Romans 8:14-15 … Knowing the Children of God
(01/06/2017)
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are Children of God. For you did not
receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a Spirit of
Adoption.” ~ Paul (Romans 8:14-15)
First of all, to be "led by the Spirit of God" is not (as Paul would have us
believe) to be mentally influenced by inspirations “from above” or to be divinely
intervened upon by a force from “on high” … No, to be truly “led by the Spirit of
God” is to cease looking outside ourselves for Guidance, and to listen instead to
the Heart within … For in truth we are all Children of God in waiting; we all have
the golden Spirit of God within us from birth. And all that remains for us to do is
dismiss the whispered fears of our self and the mumbled desires of our friends and
the droning expectations of our culture in order to DO what needs to be Done --
using what is already at hand -- for those already closest by. That is all that is
required for us to awaken to being a Child of God once more – to “become again
as a child” -- by revering life, to revere life by revering others, and to revere others
by acting accordingly. This is what it means to reject the “spirit of slavery” (i.e. our
slavery to the whims of ego), and this is what it means to “receive the Spirit of
Adoption” (i.e. by adopting others as one’s own).
Amen ... Let it be so.
