DIET MAY SURPRISE YOU.<br />

You already know about the benefits of<br />

getting vitamins and minerals and fiber by<br />

eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, but<br />

are you aware there are also thousands of<br />

other naturally occurring compounds in<br />

these same foods that offer health<br />

called phytonutrients (“phyto” is the Greek<br />

word for plant).<br />

Plants produce these nutrients to protect<br />

themselves from disease, predators and<br />

Many of these compounds are associated<br />

with antioxidant properties and help to<br />

Did you know the recommended amount of fiber for an adult diet is<br />

10-14 grams for every 1,<strong>00</strong>0 calories? The 2015 Dietary Guidelines for<br />

Americans reported that American diets tend to be low in fresh fruits,<br />

vegetables and grains, and they are eating less fiber. Here are some<br />

benefits of fiber:<br />

• Helps keep you full*<br />

• It passes through the gut and is not digested, which helps remove<br />

other partially undigested foods along the way*<br />

• Helps maintain blood sugar levels already in the normal range<br />

and promotes regularity of bowel movements*<br />

The Cleanse Phase also introduces probiotics into the diet. Certain<br />

Coming off his best season yet,<br />

What’s your first memory of football?<br />

I grew up playing soccer. I joined a football team with a<br />

bunch of my friends in sixth grade. Because they were<br />

already put together, they had me be the kicker because<br />

I played soccer and because I was the kid who didn’t<br />

want to hit anybody. I was also the backup quarterback.<br />

Seventh grade on, I started playing quarterback for Katy<br />

Junior High and haven’t played anything else since.<br />

What’s your favorite part of the game?<br />

Working together with a group of guys to try and<br />

accomplish something. That’s what makes it fun. You have<br />

to rely on everybody to get the job done. When you put<br />

a group together that’s willing to work hard and put the<br />

time in, you see it all come together and you win games.<br />

The big moments at the end of games make it a lot of fun.<br />

Why did you choose to endorse AdvoCare?<br />

From the top down, it’s a great thing. Looking initially at<br />

A Champion is someone who puts in the time and effort<br />

and excels at what they do, regardless of what it is. It could<br />

be in sports, your job or in life — whatever it is. Obviously,<br />

about what you’re doing and the hard work you put in; the<br />

results will come.<br />

How important is leadership?<br />

Every team needs a leader. For me personally, being the<br />

quarterback, you’re automatically put in the leadership<br />

position. I have the ability to push players and get everybody<br />

to reach their potential. Being a leader is huge.<br />

Do you have a word of advice that has stuck with<br />

you throughout your career?<br />

I had a coach in high school that said, “I want your actions<br />

to speak so loud that I can’t even hear what you’re saying.”<br />

That has gone a long way with me. I feel like being in a<br />

leadership position, you gotta have all aspects. You can’t<br />

just work hard or let what you do be everything. I think<br />

it starts there. The time and the work you’re putting in<br />

should show who you are, and everything you’re saying<br />

will follow.<br />

Have you ever done anything out of the ordinary<br />

for your football workouts?<br />

My wife teaches pilates so I’ve taken a class. I probably<br />

should do it more — she probably would want me to do it<br />

more. I feel like it helped.<br />

ARMY VETERAN REDEFINES<br />

ACTIVE DUTY<br />

When Todd Bailey saw a picture of himself from a family<br />

Christmas party in December 2<strong>00</strong>9, he was ashamed of<br />

what he saw. At 230 pounds and 42-years old, Todd was<br />

at his heaviest and felt miserable. He wasn’t working out<br />

and ate whatever he wanted. He was active throughout<br />

high school, playing football and running track, and<br />

joined the Army after graduation, so he knew how to live<br />

a healthy lifestyle. But that was 20 years ago.<br />

In 2<strong>00</strong>9, he heard about AdvoCare through a Drew Brees<br />

commercial and went online to learn more about the<br />

company and the products. He knew he needed a safe<br />

form of energy, so in early 2010 he started drinking Spark ®<br />

and began a 24-Day Challenge ® . * After the Challenge,<br />

he cut out fried foods, drinking sodas, and focused on<br />

his portions. Not only did he look better — after three<br />

months, he also had enough energy to run his first 5k.<br />

Excited about his initial success, Todd continued on his<br />

journey toward a healthier lifestyle by adding in fresh fish,<br />

lean beef, vegetables, fruits and tons of water to his diet<br />

and exercising at home.<br />

“It was like looking at Mount Everest in the beginning,”<br />

FINDING THEIR RHYTHM<br />

It’s been 15 years since Mary and David Holleman first<br />

tried Spark ® and fell in love with the energy and mental<br />

focus they gained. * David has delivered packages for 29<br />

years, so he’s used to physically demanding days filled<br />

Competing in any sport involves endurance, a training regimen<br />

and the mental stamina to push yourself out of your comfort zone.<br />

For Ashley Sprague and Alberto Medellin, the passion they discovered for triathlons and ultra-marathons, with<br />

the support of AdvoCare products and unwavering dedication, has helped them go from ordinary athletes to<br />

extraordinary competitors.<br />

Ashley is a triathlete based in Indiana. She’s been training<br />

and competing in triathlons since January 2015. Ashley<br />

was powerlifting at that time, following a carb and<br />

protein-heavy diet “to move mass.” She gained 42 pounds<br />

then quit powerlifting and set her sights on a triathlon, but<br />

TIRED OF WASTING TIME<br />

Every parent knows how physically demanding it can<br />

be to raise a child. Being there for the big and small<br />

moments means everything, so feeling too tired or<br />

run down can cost precious time. For years, Nikki Tigg<br />

struggled with this battle.<br />

“My son would ask to ride his bike on the weekends;<br />

CONFIDENT ON THE<br />

INSIDE AND OUT<br />

There are a few pivotal moments in every woman’s life<br />

where she wants to look her best. For Rachel Tant, it was<br />

when her sister asked her to be her maid of honor. Instead<br />

of eager anticipation, she instantly began to worry.<br />

Rachel struggled with her weight for nine years and was<br />

disgusted by the way she looked and felt. She couldn’t<br />

imagine standing in front of so many people, so she<br />

THE RIDE OF HIS LIFE<br />

Sometimes the most pivotal moments are the ones you<br />

don’t see coming. For George Brandon, it was during a<br />

trip to a nearby amusement park.<br />

George and his wife, Jennifer, loved to ride roller<br />

coasters. While at a park in 2012, the couple sat down<br />

for a ride – George realized this might be his last hoorah<br />

when he could barely get the bar to click. He was close<br />

to 3<strong>00</strong> pounds and had struggled with overeating and<br />

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR<br />

Raising an eight-year old and a newborn baby on your<br />

own is never easy, but when you’re too tired to get<br />

off the couch, even the simplest activities become a<br />

challenge. In March 2014, Jeanelle Dascher began using<br />

AdvoCare products. She and her two kids live in<br />

Montana where she works as an office manager at an<br />

auto body shop. She was struggling to lose the baby<br />

EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS<br />

At 41-years old, you wouldn’t expect Alfred Terry to be<br />

able to outrun his teenage kids. But with the help of<br />

A RELENTLESS ROLE MODEL<br />

It’s easy to lose track of everyday tasks, like what you’re<br />

eating or if you’re staying active enough, when lifechanging<br />

obstacles get in the way. That’s exactly how<br />

Nanea Marcial felt three years ago. She was reeling from<br />

a divorce and taking care of her newborn baby and twoyear<br />

old son. Wearing a size 14, Nanea didn’t feel like<br />

WAS TO TRY HIS FIRST SPARK ® .<br />

He heard about AdvoCare at<br />

the gym, while he and Chelsea<br />

were working out. He was excited<br />

about the opportunity, but<br />

Chelsea was hesitant to join.<br />

“AdvoCare sounds so great, but<br />

we can’t afford Spark,” Chelsea<br />

said. “I don’t think it’s for us.”<br />

Both Chelsea and Milton were working<br />

nights and weekends to pay<br />

the bills and support their threeyear-old<br />

daughter. Their mentor,<br />

TJ Houske, suggested they share<br />

the products with others and earn<br />

enough money to pay for their own<br />

products. Eighteen days and three<br />

Mixers (small group meetings) later,<br />

they earned enough to purchase<br />

two 24-Day Challenges ® and began<br />

the Challenge right away. Together<br />

they lost over 35 pounds in the first<br />

60 days with the help of AdvoCare<br />

products and lifestyle changes.<br />

“We quickly saw a vision to make a<br />

little bit of extra cash but after attending<br />

trainings and business opportunity<br />

meetings and earning a<br />

Rookie Bonus, we saw a much larger<br />

picture for our family,” Chelsea says.<br />

From there they set up three-way<br />

conference calls and began hosting<br />

one to three Mixers per week,<br />

both for newcomers and alongside<br />

They also regularly met with their<br />

mentors to set a business strategy,<br />

which they still do today.<br />

“We were extremely coachable<br />

from the beginning and always<br />

asked TJ and Missy, ‘What do we<br />

do next?’” explains Chelsea. “We<br />

still sit with them every 90 days<br />

to help grow our business and<br />

as leaders in the organization.”<br />

By eliminating distractions, prioritizing<br />

personal growth and always<br />

focusing on helping newcomers<br />

find the right products for their<br />

lifestyle, the couple continues to<br />

grow their team and have been<br />

able to leave their full-time jobs.<br />

With two little girls to keep them<br />

busy, Chelsea and Milton are taking<br />

in every moment as it comes.<br />

GOFF<br />

FAMILY HAS ALWAYS BEEN FRONT<br />

AND CENTER IN MICHAEL GOFF’S<br />

LIFE. Growing up as a bigger kid in<br />

Tennessee, Michael’s older brother,<br />

Chris, taught him how to eat right<br />

and get in shape. He went on to<br />

study nutrition and fitness because<br />

of his brother’s influence, and in<br />

2<strong>00</strong>8, Michael joined the staff at<br />

his brother’s gym. But due to a<br />

tough economy, Michael had to get<br />

part-time work to make ends meet.<br />

“I didn’t think anything of it because<br />

I was always taught to work hard.<br />

I did that for two years until my<br />

friend passed away,” he explains.<br />

“I started looking at my life and<br />

thinking, ‘There has to be a better<br />

way than working 80 hours a week.’”<br />

In 2010 his brother introduced him<br />

to another facet of nutrition and<br />

wellness: AdvoCare. But being<br />

the stubborn younger brother,<br />

Michael shut him down. After a<br />

few more tries, he agreed to go<br />

to a Mixer (a small group meeting)<br />

to support his brother. He began<br />

using AdvoCare products, and<br />

continued his active fitness and<br />

diet regimen, and loved his weightloss<br />

results. Ten months later, he<br />

decided to focus on AdvoCare’s<br />

business opportunity after<br />

attending National Success School.<br />

“I absolutely love meeting people<br />

face-to-face,” he explains. “I think<br />

communication is a lost art in<br />

today’s social media age, so 1-on-1<br />

meetings are my favorite way to meet<br />

people and introduce AdvoCare.”<br />

A year-and-a-half later, after<br />

countless 1-on-1’s and three-way<br />

conference calls, he made the choice<br />

to walk away from his job at the gym<br />

and focus on AdvoCare full time.<br />

“I learned more about myself and<br />

more about people during that<br />

first year with AdvoCare than I<br />

did in school,” says Michael. “You<br />

have to learn how to deal with<br />

rejection and how to talk to people.<br />

Before AdvoCare, I had a wall up. I<br />

thought I was perfect at everything.”<br />

Michael knew he made the right<br />

decision when he was able to surprise<br />

his dad and the rest of his family in<br />

Tennessee and stay for a month.<br />

“That was the first time in my life I<br />

saw him cry,” Michael says. Today,<br />

Michael and his brother spend their<br />

days helping others and enriching<br />

FIRST JOINED ADVOCARE TO<br />

FIND A PRODUCT THAT HELPED<br />

WITH THEIR MARATHONS AND<br />

TRIATHLONS. What they found was<br />

a business opportunity that fit their<br />

hectic schedules and helped them<br />

make additional income to send all<br />

four of their sons to private school.<br />

After signing up with AdvoCare in<br />

October 2014, Katie focused on<br />

using products and had no interest<br />

in the business opportunity. But by<br />

casually talking about the products<br />

and what they had done for her,<br />

Katie began bringing in a little<br />

extra income each month. Around<br />

the same time, the couple decided<br />

to move their son, who was in<br />

kindergarten, to a private school<br />

because of the smaller student-toteacher<br />

ratio. Because of the cost<br />

of private school, she knew they<br />

needed to bring in more income<br />

and decided to focus on sharing her<br />

story and building her AdvoCare<br />

team to help pay for tuition.<br />

“We focus on four questions<br />

when building our two-minute<br />

story: Where was I, what did I<br />

see, what did I do and where am<br />

I going?,” explains Katie. “You<br />

get stopped all the time so you<br />

have to be ready to share. I was<br />

stopped at a baseball game with<br />

my kids and asked what Spark ® was<br />

because he saw it on my bottle.”<br />

Darryl travels for work 90 percent<br />

of the time, so Katie grew their<br />

AdvoCare business on her own<br />

for the first eight months. In July<br />

2015, Darryl began helping Katie<br />

host weekly Mixers (small group<br />

meetings) for themselves and others<br />

on their team. He focuses on sharing<br />

his story with the male newcomers.<br />

“This is a relationship business so<br />

we are constantly going to dinner,<br />

play dates and gyms with our team,”<br />

Katie explains. “We do whatever<br />

our teammates are passionate<br />

about. This is our family, and<br />

we want them to know we are<br />

When Chelsey Okonek decided to<br />

pursue a business venture with AdvoCare<br />

while working as a collections<br />

specialist, she didn’t know if it<br />

would be worth the time or energy.<br />

Her then-fiancé, Ken, introduced<br />

her to the health and wellness<br />

company a month prior and she<br />

signed up to be a Distributor.<br />

They both loved the products and<br />

the results they achieved; Ken<br />

wanted to try the business opportunity,<br />

but Chelsey was hesitant.<br />

Ken was introduced to AdvoCare<br />

by a co-worker at the gym he managed.<br />

After testing out the products<br />

and “going from good to<br />

great” by gaining lean muscle and<br />

reducing his body fat percentage,<br />

he knew he could stand behind<br />

them. Chelsey also loved the products<br />

but didn’t see the business<br />

potential until they met with their<br />

mentors, Jen and Nate DeTracy.<br />

“At first, I really just shared the<br />

products like it was my business,”<br />

says Ken. “I tried to connect with<br />

everyone by asking questions.<br />

I always try to get to know<br />

more about people than<br />

they know about me, whether<br />

on the phone or in person.”<br />

Seven months into it, they felt like<br />

they hit a plateau with their businesses<br />

and couldn’t figure out why.<br />

They realized they needed to work<br />

on their leadership skills, so they<br />

got rid of the excuses and started<br />

focusing on self development.<br />

“We used the excuse that we were<br />

on an island, and we weren’t close<br />

to anyone for a while,” admits Ken.<br />

They overcame their excuses by<br />

leaning on their leaders for encouragement<br />

and letting go of their<br />

fears. Ken realized he needed to<br />

step out of his comfort zone and<br />

connect with everyone on his team,<br />

even those he didn’t know, so he<br />

set up calls and discussed expectations<br />

and goals one-on-one.<br />

A year later, Chelsey and Ken got<br />

married and are now enjoying the<br />

newlywed life. Their hard work and<br />

dedication has paid off — Chelsey<br />

was able to leave her full-time job in<br />

2015. Their next goal is to become<br />

the AdvoCare pioneers of Alaska.<br />

NIKI & JUSTIN RIAT<br />

Niki was looking for something to be a part of as a stayat-home<br />

mom, so she started sharing how AdvoCare and<br />

the healthy lifestyle she learned helped her lose weight.<br />

After two years of networking, three-way conference calls and<br />

unwavering dedication, she was making enough income to peek her<br />

husband, Justin’s, interest. Finally convinced, Justin joined Niki. The<br />

couple began hosting Mixers (small group meetings) and focusing on<br />

growing their team, which allowed Justin to leave his full-time job in<br />

October 2015.<br />

YEAR STARTED: 2012<br />

What does being an AdvoCare leader<br />

mean to you?<br />

Niki: It’s a responsibility, a stewardship. It<br />

has totally changed my perspective. I always<br />

thought life was about me and getting to do<br />

what I want to do. Over the past year-anda-half,<br />

I’ve done a 180. Now it’s about what<br />

I can do for someone else — how can I help<br />

someone grow?<br />

Justin: The men in this company pour into<br />

your life. It’s as much about the culture and<br />

bringing people on this journey with us as<br />

it is a business.<br />

What was your approach to building<br />

a network?<br />

Niki: Prior to AdvoCare, I was not a person<br />

of influence. It’s gotten me out of my<br />

comfort zone. I was a huge introvert, and<br />

now I try to make friends wherever I go.<br />

I got in shape and became a product of the<br />

product. It didn’t happen overnight, that’s<br />

for sure.<br />

Justin: When I look around, I’m not<br />

necessarily looking for people who have<br />

everything to make them successful. I’m<br />

looking for people I can add value to, not<br />

necessarily with AdvoCare. When I’ve<br />

made that the priority and not building<br />

AdvoCare, the business always comes<br />

back around.<br />

What have you learned about yourself that<br />

you didn’t know before?<br />

Niki: It’s been a very humbling journey for<br />

me. I learned I wasn’t who I thought I was.<br />

Life is not about me, it is about everyone<br />

but me.<br />

Justin: I wasn’t being the leader my family<br />

deserved before AdvoCare. I was doing<br />

the only thing I knew I could to provide for<br />

my family. If it cost me 80 hours away from<br />

them, that’s how it was.<br />

It’s about being there and being available.<br />

My children are my only legacy.<br />

What is something you do to support<br />

your teams?<br />

Niki: We live life with them. I don’t think<br />

of them as Business Builders. I make sure<br />

I’m available for my teams.<br />

Justin: Teams need encouragement and<br />

vision. We encourage people to dream<br />

hope to people at whatever level they’re<br />

What was your approach to building<br />

a network?<br />

Christine: It means being involved in our<br />

community. Building relationships is a high<br />

priority for us. We volunteer in various ways<br />

and attend weekly networking events.<br />

Mike: We make sure to stay connected and<br />

work with other AdvoCare leaders in the<br />

area. When we moved to California, we<br />

dedicated ourselves to helping others<br />

grow their businesses.<br />

What have you learned about yourself that<br />

you didn’t know before?<br />

Mike: Growing up, when I faced adversity<br />

I would quit a lot of times. We were told<br />

AdvoCare would be one of the hardest<br />

things we’ve done. You have to be willing<br />

to work at it for two to three years. I’ve<br />

learned the ability to press through.<br />

Christine: I’ve discovered I had more to give<br />

to others than I realized. All I needed was a<br />

willingness to share and a heart for people.<br />

We are a good example of ordinary people<br />

that stepped into a vehicle. We didn’t<br />

have to change who we were, AdvoCare<br />

helped us grow. We have an extraordinary<br />

opportunity, and we worked it.<br />

What is something you do to support<br />

your teams?<br />

Christine: Communication is key. We are<br />

very in touch with our team. If we can get in<br />

front of you, that’s what we’re going to do.<br />

LEVI THOMAS<br />

Levi Thomas started as an assistant wrestling coach out<br />

of college and loved his job. But when he couldn’t get a fulltime<br />

teaching position, he picked up a second job to pay the bills.<br />

He joined AdvoCare in April 2012 to earn additional income and<br />

to continue his passion of helping others. His approachability and<br />

accommodating attitude, along with his determination and focus,<br />

helped him grow his AdvoCare team and leave both jobs in 2013.<br />

Today he is focused on helping others achieve their purpose in life<br />

and building a life he will share with his future family.<br />

to you?<br />

It’s an honor. I try to live my life in such<br />

a way that others would want to model or<br />

follow. I want to be a good person and lead<br />

by example.<br />

Jenny Donnelly once told me, “The difference<br />

in a good leader and a great leader is a<br />

good leader loves people, but a great<br />

leader loves people when they’re not easy<br />

to love.” That always resonated with me.<br />

What was your approach to building<br />

a network?<br />

I used three-way phone calls and Mixers<br />

(small group meetings). Nothing replaces<br />

Mixers — meeting newcomers in person is<br />

important. When I meet someone new,<br />

I always ask what needs they have and how<br />

I can help.<br />

I’m willing to invest in someone else’s future<br />

without the guarantee they will follow<br />

through. I will believe in someone until they<br />

believe in themselves.<br />

What have you learned about yourself that<br />

you didn’t know before?<br />

I’ve learned to always be open to learning<br />

from others. The more you learn, the<br />

more you realize how little you know.<br />

Because of that, I’m always reading,<br />

listening and learning.<br />

Most of my life I doubted my abilities.<br />

AdvoCare has shown me that I am capable of<br />

so much more than I ever thought possible.<br />

What is something you do to support<br />

I remind my teammates why they’re here<br />

or small. I make sure they know we’re doing<br />

People become AdvoCare Independent Distributors for a number of reasons, including the opportunity<br />

to purchase products at a discounted price, to sell products to others and receive profits, or to<br />

coach others on how to retail products and earn compensation directly from AdvoCare.<br />

Distributors may earn compensation from AdvoCare on sales to registered customers who order<br />

through the AdvoCare website, as well as from downline Distributors (“Commissions”). Distributors<br />

at the Advisor level may earn other compensation from AdvoCare based on the buying and selling<br />

activities of downline Distributors (“Overrides” and “Leadership Bonuses”). Distributors who qualify<br />

for the Advisor level are also eligible to earn additional bonuses or incentives for their activities and<br />

the activities of their downline. For example, in 2015, 4,<strong>00</strong>3 Distributors at the Advisor level earned<br />

a $5<strong>00</strong> Rookie Bonus.<br />

The Annual Income Ranges chart provides the compensation earned in 2015 by Distributors<br />

(Commissions, Overrides and Leadership Bonuses). Not included in these figures are the<br />

potential profits Distributors receive from selling products directly to customers, bonuses and<br />

incentives earned, or the expenses of engaging in an AdvoCare business.<br />

AdvoCare’s Compensation Plan provides qualification criteria for product discounts and pin levels<br />

that indicate advancement in business building and buying and selling activities (see AdvoCare<br />

Policies, Procedures, and Compensation Plan). Distributors have the ability to earn compensation<br />

from AdvoCare for their activities each Pay Period, a total of 24 Pay Periods during a calendar year.<br />

Of course, not every Distributor chooses to be Active or sustain the same level of activity every Pay<br />

Period, so income may vary over time. The Pay Period Income chart represents Pay Period income<br />

paid at that discount level or pin level (“Pay Level”) in 2015. The figures show the average top and<br />

bottom 10 percent and the median, the middle value when all checks are placed in lowest to highest<br />

order, at each Pay Level. In 2015, a total of 1,294,716 checks were earned by 177,443 Distributors.<br />

AdvoCare pays no compensation for recruiting new Distributors. Instead, compensation is based<br />

upon product sales, which varies based upon a number of factors, including how effectively<br />

Distributors exercise key traits like diligence, leadership, time and effort in selling products. There<br />

is no guarantee of success or short cut to success. Distributors establish their own working hours,<br />

conduct the day-to-day business, determine and pay for their own costs of doing business, and<br />

choose when and how much they would like to engage in their AdvoCare business.<br />

AdvoCare offers a number of very encouraging consumer protections for its Distributor base,<br />

including the low cost to become a Distributor, a generous 1<strong>00</strong> percent buyback policy on product<br />

purchases upon resignation, Distributor and retail customer product satisfaction guarantee and a<br />

no-minimum inventory purchase requirement.<br />

La gente llega a ser Distribuidor Independiente de AdvoCare por una serie de motivos, que incluyen la<br />

UNA IMPLACABLE MODELO A SEGUIR<br />

Es fácil olvidar los quehaceres diarios, tal como lo que<br />

comes o si has quedado suficientemente activo, en<br />

especial cuando enfrentas grandes obstáculos. Es<br />

así exactamente cómo Nanea Marcial se sentía hace<br />

tres años. Ella estaba recuperándose de un divorcio y<br />

cuidando a su bebé recién nacido y su hijo de dos años<br />

“NUNCA SABES LO QUE TE<br />

ESPERA EL FUTURO,” es una<br />

frase familiar para la mayoría de<br />

nosotros. En el caso de Lauren<br />

Kirschblum, lo que tenía esperando<br />

en su futuro era encontrar su voz.<br />
