Best Places to Work
in Oklahoma 2017
CompSource Mutual has once again been recognized
as one of the Best Places to Work in Oklahoma.
Earlier this summer, we were excited to learn that
CompSource had been named one of the 2017 Best
Places to work in Oklahoma. When the final rankings
were released last week, CompSource secured the
number 15 spot, an improvement over last year's rank!
“It is such an honor to be consecutively
recognized as one of the best places to
work. We strive to create an environment
which empowers employees. Our customers
see it every day in the outstanding service
our employees provide,” said Jason Clark,
CompSource Mutual President and CEO.
To celebrate CompSource's second year being named
to the Best Places to Work in Oklahoma list, a special
reception will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 2:30
p.m. in the Oklahoma City atrium and simultaneously in
Tulsa.
Join in on the CompSource Mutual
Halloween tradition
Halloween is a special time at CompSource, full of fun
and healthy competition. Departments compete in
decorating and costume contests for great prizes but
most importantly, bragging rights for the year. The
competition and creativity are out of this world!
Last year, Underwriting’s agent team took first prize in
the decorations category with their amazing adaptation
of The Polar Express. The pumpkin carving contest was
won by Yvonne Maxwell who blew us away with her
adaptation of the arcade classic claw game. Click here
to see all the great photos from last year.
Office decorating may begin on Oct. 23. Judging of
decorations and pumpkins will begin at 9 a.m., on Oct.
31, followed by group and individual costumes.
The Employee Committee will award prizes in the
following four categories:
Group costume:
First place: Lunch
Group decoration:
First place: Lunch
Individual costume:
First place: $100 gift card
Second place: $50 gift card
This month, employees have the opportunity to help meet the needs in our
communities through the 2017 campaign for the United Way and earn eight
hours of Champion leave.
The United Way works to improve the health, safety, education and economic well-being of individuals and
families in need in Oklahoma. They accomplish this by connecting community resources with responsive and
accountable health and human services agencies.
At CompSource Mutual, we support United Way because we understand the positive impact our contributions
have on the communities all around us. Dollars raised through the campaign stay in Oklahoma and directly
support local Partner Agencies.
This year, there’s a twist…
In 2017, our goal will be two-pronged. The first part of the goal is to raise $40,000 in employee pledges. The
second part is to increase participation on the e-pledge site.
2017 goals
$40,000 employee pledges + 40 percent e-pledge participation
When the campaign launches, employees will receive an email with instructions on
how to donate using the United Way e-pledge site. Regardless of the amount you
choose to donate, whether you choose a one time payment,
recurring paycheck deduction or should you opt to not donate,
you can make your selection through the site. Any selection
counts toward our participation goal! If we meet our goals, we
will reward all eligible employees with eight hours of Champions
leave.
Read about the events planned during the campaign on the
next page.
Work and life
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Cyber attacks and security breaches have
become so common it seems we hear about
a new case every week. As a result, the
Department Homeland Security, wants the
public to remember three basic steps before
going online:
Stop. Think. Connect.
Stop. make sure security measures are in place.
Think. about the consequences of your actions and
behaviors online.
Connect. and enjoy the internet.
IT professionals seek to educate the public about online
best practices and encourage people to put those practices
into use as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
(NCSAM). Read the tips on the right to help ensure you’re
doing your part to be a safe and informed citizen of the
internet.
The Department of Homeland Security
encourages you to:
• Enable stronger authentication. When available,
enable stronger authentication for an extra layer of
security beyond providing a password (e.g., multi-factor
authentication that can use a one-time code texted to a
mobile device).
• Make your passwords long and strong. Use complex
passwords with a combination of numbers, symbols and
letters. Use unique passwords for different accounts and
change your passwords regularly.
• Keep a clean machine. Update the security software,
operating system and browser on all of your internetconnected
devices.
• When in doubt, throw it out. Links in email and online
posts are often the way cybercriminals compromise
your computer. If it looks suspicious delete it.
• Share with care. Limit the amount of personal
information you share online and use privacy settings to
avoid sharing information widely.
Additional resources are available, including: teaching kids about being safe online, how to maintain your online privacy and
how to recognize and prevent cyber crime.
Years at CompSource: 4
What motivates you to do the
best job possible? The success
of my department and company
are my biggest motivators.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
I enjoy the collective effort my team puts in every day to
ensure we are exceeding the goals of our department.
What approach do you take to your job? My
approach to my job is to challenge myself and see how I
might perform better than I did yesterday.
Do you have a favorite memory? One of my most
memorable moments here at CompSource was running
in the Redbud Classic. It was an amazing feeling running
with fellow employees for a great cause.
