Anthony Goicolea Anthony Goicolea's work is characterized by the digital manipulation of the image using photography and video, and more recently large format drawings on tracing paper. Using himself as model at first, he creates mysterious spaces full of dreams and hidden fantasies with constant selfreferential nods to the world of childhood and adolescence. Identity and otherness are confused in this particular universe of cloned characters. In all his videos the embodiment of the protagonists and the exaggeration of their movements are of particular relevance, which compensate, as if it were silent films, for the absence of sound. Although as the real world as a starting point, Goicolea's work delves into the realm of the subconscious and the imagination, recreating magical and aseptic environments, products from his own personal imaginary world. In photography work, the artist uses digital assembly strategies to combine elements. The surface of the work is a set of references, of indexes, that refer to different cultural universes but which define a discourse from the relations between them, as we can see in the work Sítio. Isolated, with no human presence, the scenario of this work seems very delicate but yet disturbing, suggesting a crime scene.
