The company started as a Canadian-owned lubricants and chemical supplier to automotive dealers and professional
service and repair facilities on British Columbia’s west coast.
Surviving – and thriving – in a highly competitive oil and lubricants marketplace for three decades is no small feat.
But for a company with the people, products and passion for KLONDIKE, it’s not how we gauge success.
For us, it’s about impact. Have we helped our customers survive? Have we played a role in their success? The answer
to these questions is a resounding “YES” for each of KLONDIKE’s signature products.

THE CHALLENGE
In the 2000’s, millions of hectares of Western Canadian trees were infected with Mountain Pine Beetles.
The environmental and financial damage caused was unprecedented, leading to the decision to remove
the affected trees as quickly as possible.
Faced with a host of unexpected problems because of the nature of the wood being cut, long-time
forestry workers were struggling amidst difficult, highly challenging conditions. Not only were the climate
and topography of the area problematic, the wood being cut was dead and extremely dry, raising a host of
new problems.
Continuously warping sawmill bars and chains due to lack of moisture and extraordinarily high frictional
temperatures made for difficult and costly cutting operations. Traditional chain oil blends were not up
to the rigorous demands of the immense operation, which drove our researchers and product specialists
back to the drawing board to find a much-needed solution.

CREATING SOLUTIONS
The advanced viscosity product formulated by our technical team and other global experts gave birth to KLONDIKE
Bar and Chain Oil, a product that’s still improving performance and efficiencies for forestry workers across Canada.

for the Canadian forest industry that preserved the value and beauty of this vital national resource.
