9. Postal entries will not be accepted.<br />
10. By submitting an entry for this competition, the entrant grants to the Royal Opera<br />
House (the “ROH”) a royalty free non-exclusive licence worldwide in perpetuity for the<br />
ROH:<br />
• to perform <strong>and</strong> to authorise others to perform any of their compositions<br />
submitted as part of the <strong>Fanfare</strong> competition, provided such performance is (1)<br />
solely for non-profit making purposes <strong>and</strong>/or (2) for promoting the charitable<br />
<strong>and</strong>/or educational role of the ROH;<br />
• to make <strong>and</strong> to authorise others to make audio <strong>and</strong>/or audio visual recordings of<br />
any of their compositions submitted as part of the <strong>Fanfare</strong> competition (the<br />
“Recordings”), without limitation transmission on radio, streaming on the<br />
internet, making new copies <strong>and</strong> new recordings; <strong>and</strong><br />
• to exploit <strong>and</strong> to authorise others to exploit the Recordings in whole or in part in<br />
all media (whether currently known or devised in the future), provided such<br />
exploitation is (1) solely for non-profit making purposes <strong>and</strong>/or (2) for promoting<br />
the charitable <strong>and</strong>/or educational role of the ROH.<br />
11. By submitting an entry for this competition, the entrant irrevocably waives in favour of<br />
the Royal Opera House, its assignees <strong>and</strong> licensees the benefit of all moral rights in<br />
relation to the Recordings arising under the Copyright, Designs <strong>and</strong> Patents Act 1988<br />
or similar rights arising under the laws of any jurisdiction.<br />
12. By submitting an entry for the competition, the entrant warrants <strong>and</strong> represents that<br />
the composition is their original work <strong>and</strong> does not infringe the copyright or any other<br />
right of any other person.<br />
13. The competition is not open to employees of, or close relatives of employees of, the<br />
Royal Opera House.<br />
14. The competition is not open to previous winners of the competition.<br />
15. The winners. The Royal Opera House will select up to 10 winners. The winners will<br />
have their compositions recorded by members of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera<br />
House. Recordings of the winning fanfares will be used in the Front of House areas of<br />
the Royal Opera House before performances begin or recommence. Some fanfares<br />
may be performed or played in other venues across the country <strong>and</strong> may be featured<br />
on the ROH website. Final orchestration will consist of the following:<br />
- 2 Flute<br />
- 2 Oboe<br />
- 2 Clarinet<br />
- 2 Bassoon<br />
- 4 Horns<br />
- 2 Trumpets<br />
- 3 Trombones<br />
- 2 Percussion<br />
- 1 Timpani
