Serve Year in <strong>the</strong> all 19 <strong>st<strong>at</strong>e</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> feder<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> Nigeria <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>n Head<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>St<strong>at</strong>e</strong>, Maj-General Mohammadu Buhari <strong>and</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kaduna <strong>St<strong>at</strong>e</strong>, in K<strong>at</strong>sina<br />

Polytechnic, K<strong>at</strong>sina, to be precise, where he served as a 1983/84 N.Y.S.C.<br />

Youth Corper <strong>and</strong> won <strong>the</strong> Kaduna <strong>St<strong>at</strong>e</strong>’s “Best Corper Artist Award’’.<br />

I must say th<strong>at</strong> we are marveled to note, from wh<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> artist, Mr. <strong>Mbonu</strong> <strong>Emerem</strong>, is<br />

telling us here, th<strong>at</strong> he studied <strong>and</strong> gradu<strong>at</strong>ed as an Economist from <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong><br />

Nigeria, Nsukka Campus, in 1983, where he specialized in Ma<strong>the</strong>m<strong>at</strong>ical Economics<br />

<strong>and</strong> Econometrics. But my good people <strong>of</strong> <strong>Imo</strong> <strong>St<strong>at</strong>e</strong>, you can see how <strong>the</strong><br />

gentleman is s<strong>at</strong>isfying our aes<strong>the</strong>tic pleasure <strong>and</strong> mesmerizing us<br />

with his cre<strong>at</strong>ions as an artist. To God be <strong>the</strong> glory!...”<br />

a <strong>press</strong> <strong>interview</strong> <strong>was</strong> granted to <strong>the</strong> artist, Mr. <strong>Mbonu</strong> C. <strong>Emerem</strong>, as part <strong>of</strong> his <strong>reception</strong> in his own <strong>st<strong>at</strong>e</strong>,<br />

<strong>Imo</strong> <strong>St<strong>at</strong>e</strong>, after unveiling <strong>and</strong> seeing <strong>the</strong> <strong>portrait</strong> <strong>of</strong> him<strong>self</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong><strong>Gov</strong>ernor</strong>, painted <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> artist.
