6. Items to get from the organization:<br />
a. Most recent strategic plan and/or business plan<br />
b. Financial documents: (a) Form 990, (b) budget estimates related to the<br />
proposal (e.g., cost estimates, overhead costs, donated goods and services,<br />
etc.), (c) balance sheets, (d) operating statements, and (e) statements<br />
<strong>of</strong> cash flow<br />
c. Copy <strong>of</strong> past grants (funded and/or unfunded)<br />
d. Past evaluation or assessment protocols to be incorporated for the methods<br />
and evaluation sections <strong>of</strong> the grant (e.g., in-house and/or consultant<br />
generated resources)<br />
e. Information related to organizational background and history (e.g., what<br />
are some <strong>of</strong> their successes and what makes them unique for their communities?)<br />
f. Copy <strong>of</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Directors and their affiliations (e.g., work and do they<br />
sit on other boards or foundations)<br />
g. Client testimonials about the program/project, its need, importance in<br />
their lives—if possible. If not, you might need to create such information<br />
from research and data investigation.<br />
