Ten people die several injured in
smog related incidents in country
LAHORE: At least ten
people died and several
were injured due to dense
fog and smog which is continued
to paralyze daily routine
in most parts of country
including Sindh, Punjab and
Peshawar. In line with information
received by the most
parts of the country, due to
dense fog and smog as
many as ten people have
lost their lives and several
have received serious
injuries during traffic incidents
in Lahore, Hafizabad,
Jhang, Vehari and Rajanpur
while at least 12 people
have been injured due to
smog in said cities.
Traffic flow on
Motorway remained affected
by the high intensity of
fog at morning time as drivers
found it difficult to move
due to less visibility.
Special instructions were
also issued for travelers by
Motorway police.

2300 teaching, non teaching staff families on the
brink of starvation due to non payment of salaries
ISLAMABAD: Non
disbursement of salaries to
daily wages staff of educational
institutions operating
under Federal
Directorate of Education
(FDE) since the last four
months has put their families
at the brink of starvation.
According to media
reports approximately
2300 teaching and nonteaching
staff was in
severe financial fix for not
receiving the salaries since
the last four months. The
daily wages staffers were
appointed as time gap
arrangement.
“The students fund system
has been abolished in
2011 and all the daily
wages employees of FDE
are being paid salaries
directly by the Auditor
General of Pakistan
Revenue (AGPR)”,
sources added.
Sources said that government
could not make
new recruitment due to not
settlement of cases of daily
wages employees. The
government educational
institutions were facing
severe shortage of staff
owing to lack of fresh
appointments.
Load shedding: government
fails to cope up short fall
ISLAMABAD: Govt

up with power outage after
three days and shortfall has
reached up to 5000 mega
watt while demand has
decreased up to 13500
mega watt.

that production of hydel

watt and two atomic plants

working, adding that gas
supply to seven plants

piece of the puzzle – they believe
they have identified the protein
which causes osteocalcin to activate.

Scam of looting of Rs 53
million unearthed
JAMSHORO: Scholars
from across the globe have
stressed the need for youth of
Pakistan to learn English to
survive and progress in a
competitive, fast-paced and
demanding world; characterized
by ever-changing technological,
economic, political
and corporate challenges.

the inaugural ceremony
of the 3-day International
Conference on Language
and Literature organized by
Institute of English
Language and Literature,
University of Sindh at
Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of

Haroon in his address as the
event Chief Guest said that
English in the given global
context had grown to be a
mandate not an option:
adding that those who advocated
the premise that
national or regional languages
be adopted as medium
of instruction at all levels
of education had not perhaps
had the proper understanding
the issue. “It is so
very convenient to wish for
the local languages to
replace English in academic
settings across the board;
but almost impossible to
translate and make available
thousands of course books,
voluminous text materials
and other millions of literacy
titles that published every
other day in one or the other
corner of the world. So, the
