ISLAMABAD: We've long
been told that a part of our brain
controls our appetite – but a new
study suggests that our bones also
play a key role.
A hormone they produce,
called osteocalcin, has been
shown to affect how we
metabolise sugar and fat.
It has also been associated with
insulin sensitivity, which is linked
to developing type 2 diabetes.
Previous research already
uncovered this, and now Canadian
researchers have unveiled a new
piece of the puzzle – they believe
they have identified the protein
which causes osteocalcin to activate.
They hope their findings will
open the door to new ways of
preventing type 2 diabetes and
obesity.
HOW WE FIRST DISCOV-
According to Motorway
officials, visibility has
plunged to 30 meters from
Thokar Niaz Baig to
100m from Syal Mor to
Khanqa Dogran as thick
smog an unwanted by product
of fog and pollution continued
to persist in the air.
People may experience
short-term skin and respiratory
conditions such as eye
irritation, coughing,
throat/chest irritation and
skin irritation as a result of
smog. Around 280000
peasants have been instructed
to use alternative ways to
burn their crops by the
Minister of Environment
Protection Zakia Shah
Nawaz while Lahore West
Management Company has
cleaned the 17000km roads
to avoid dust.
Dense foggy/smoggy
conditions are expected
over plain areas of Punjab
and foggy over central and
lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
and upper Sindh while
smog and fog will be eliminated
only after rainfall.
Six high officials and
several staffers of Accounts
Department of Lahore
involved in this scam.
Energy Secretary has got
exchequer , but on the other
hand FIA officials instead of
According to details
LESCO officials on the
JAMSHORO: Scholars
from across the globe have
stressed the need for youth of
Pakistan to learn English to
survive and progress in a
competitive, fast-paced and
demanding world; characterized
by ever-changing technological,
economic, political
and corporate challenges.
This they said while addressing
the inaugural ceremony
of the 3-day International
Conference on Language
and Literature organized by
Institute of English
Language and Literature,
University of Sindh at
Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of
Faculty of Arts.
The conference was
presided over by Vice-
Chancellor, University of
Sindh Prof. Dr. Fateh
Muhammad Burfat, whereas,
former Speaker of Sindh
Assembaly Abdullah
Hussain Haroon was the
Chief Guest.
Abddual Hussain
Haroon in his address as the
event Chief Guest said that
English in the given global
context had grown to be a
mandate not an option:
adding that those who advocated
the premise that
national or regional languages
be adopted as medium
of instruction at all levels
of education had not perhaps
had the proper understanding
the issue. “It is so
very convenient to wish for
the local languages to
replace English in academic
settings across the board;
but almost impossible to
translate and make available
thousands of course books,
voluminous text materials
and other millions of literacy
titles that published every
other day in one or the other
corner of the world. So, the
very argument therefore
Line project. But no documentary
proof has been provided
to the Energy
Secretary. Following this
the amount in question
became doubtful whether or
not these funds fell into the
hands of looters.
Sources also told that a
loss of 300 million rupees
occurred due to the faulty
material used on Lahore 9
feeders K (GSL) wire
installed on which no probe
has yet been started.
Because of this substandard
material on this feeder the
ratio of loss jumped from 17
per cent to 52 per cent and
the burden will be shifted on
the poor people.
The report added that
department suffered a loss
of 130 million rupees due to
the use of faulty conductors
on the Lahore regions 11
KV five feeders, till now the
officials could not managed
to trace the corrupt mafia.
1st International conference on
language and literature opens at SU
color lights, and black
glasses from their all type
of vehicles before 31st
October otherwise after
31st October, 2017, stern
action would be taken
against them without any
discrimination especially
directed to police officers
and officials to remove
their fancy number plates,
but police seemed to be
compelled to implement
on its order owing to
which people of Shikarpur
seemed to be violated his
instructions.
It is worthwhile to mention
here that in this regard
SSP Shikarpur and a large
number of persons belonging
to different walks of
research that showed the bone
protein osteocalcin regulates
insulin and glucose balance.
His tests also revealed its role
in affecting fertility, brain development
and cognition, and muscle
function during exercise.
The findings suggest that
osteocalcin might hold promise in
fighting the global epidemic of
becomes self cancelling”, he
argued.
Hussain said English had,
whether one liked it or not,
become an international lingua
frena-being the language
of trade, politics, international
interaction, expansion,
communication, internet,
fashion, sports, law and personal
expression. “We must
not fear English as a threat to
indigenous languages. Our
indigenous languages will
sustain and thrive on their
own s they have millions and
users to use and preserve
them. Use of English, I no
way see jeopardizing the
local linguistic entities, it
would rather consolidate
indigenous languages if the
masses who spoke them
spoke English and thus significantly
enhanced their
financial standing to promote
their native languages”, he
advocated.
SSP fails to implement on his order to register
all type of vehicles including motorcycles
life had taken out a massive
rally and gave message
to people of
Shikarpur to follow the
rules, but police have
failed to implement on it.
People of Shikarpur
demanded the SSP
Shikarpur to water his
order for larger interests of
the people of Shikarpur.
Feeling hungry or full is down to our bones
type 2 diabetes.
Earlier evidence by Karsenty's
team had shown links between
bone and the fat hormone leptin.
Obese adults are significantly less
likely to develop osteoporosis.
Professor Mathieu Ferron, of
the Montreal Clinical Research
Institute (IRCM), spent the last
decade studying osteocalcin.
He says it has long been known
that hormones can affect bones,
adding: 'Just think about how
women are more prone to suffer
from osteoporosis when they
reach menopause because their
oestrogen levels drop.'
But he said the idea that bone
itself can affect other tissues took
root only a few years ago.
'One of osteocalcin's functions
is to increase insulin production,
which in turn reduces blood glucose
levels,' he said.
