NEWBURPORT - Join us in this very special production of Methuen Ballet Ensemble’s The Nutcracker. The<br />

company is thrilled to announce that world renowned ballet dancer and choreographer Sabi Varga will be joining<br />

this year’s production. It is not to be missed! In addition to dancing in the production, Mr. Varga will be tapping<br />

into his creative and artistic talents as guest choreographer for select scenes! Methuen Ballet Ensemble, an established<br />

ballet company under the artistic direction of Vanessa Voter Shaheen, has staged The Nutcracker for over twentyfive<br />

years. All principal roles are performed by members of Methuen Ballet Ensemble, whose experience totals over<br />

<strong>15</strong>0 years of classical ballet training under Ms. Shaheen’s tutelage. Students of Voter’s School of Dance and North<br />

NEWBURYPORT - Cantemus Chamber Chorus Sings in the Season - Cantemus Chamber Chorus’s winter<br />

program, Psalmists and Seers, reveals the solemn splendor and holy excitement of the holiday season, with Bernstein’s<br />

Chichester Psalms at its center. Its colorful Hebrew poetry and zigzagging rhythms proclaim the greatness of the<br />

season. The Midwife’s Tale, a Christmas cantata by Cambridge composer James Woodman, reflects in sonorous<br />

medieval poetry the mystery and awe of the Nativity. Other pieces on the program set the scene for a melodious,<br />

enchanting and heart-stirring season of true joy. The final piece, Lauridsen’s prayerful setting of James Agee’s poem<br />

Sure on This Shining Night, shimmers with the essence of tranquility and peace. Harp and percussion accompany<br />

NEWBURYPORT - “The Rose and the Night Star” will be presented by the 140-voice Newburyport Choral<br />

Society, the Greater Newburyport Children’s Chorus and orchestra at 8 PM on Saturday, December 9th and<br />

Sunday, December 10th at 2:30 PM at the Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High Street, Newburyport. The<br />

ROWLEY - This month the Rowley Public Library is hosting art created by local students from Pine Grove. Notan<br />

is a design element used for creating composition in art. The Japanese use the<br />

term ‘Notan’ to describe an important element of design involving the play<br />

of light versus dark. Students first learned about positive space and negative<br />

space and saw examples of artwork displaying both elements. They then created<br />

their own to share. See what it’s all about! Their artwork will be on exhibit<br />

through the month of November. The Rowley Public Library, 141 Main Street<br />
