‘Very proud day’
Veterans Day
ceremonies
gets praise from
community

If you didn’t know Saturday,
Nov. 11, was Veterans
Day, you’d be quick to figure
it out with all the events at
Pioneer Cemetery.
For starters, there was the
military convoy heading
north on Wolf Road to escort
the cemetery’s latest installation:
A WWII M5 anti-tank
gun, refurbished by The Veterans
Garage.
Among the convoy were
a WWI reenactors who unhitched
the gun from the
back of an old military vehicle
and then placed the antique
piece of military equipment
in its final resting spot
in the cemetery.
“It’s real exciting,” said
Jonathan Stevens, one of
the reenactors on-hand to
help with the unloading and
simulate firing drills with the
gun. “It’s kind of another
aspect of the history that we
study that we don’t usually
get to see or touch or anything.”
Todd Koster, another of
the reenactors, said it was a
treat for him personally, but
also for the village and the
veterans who live there.
“It’s nice, one, for the veterans,
to see that people are
still honoring and respecting
the veterans; and, two, just
