MESSAGE
I am delighted that the 48th International Film Festival is going to commence in our strikingly beautiful
and picturesque state of Goa, on 20th November, 2017 and will continue till 28th November, 2017.
For the past 13 years, my state has been hosting the Festival. Our state has always been a favorite
film location for Indian and international filmmakers. Since 2004, when IFFI was permanently moved to
Goa, the Konkani / Goan film industry has seen remarkable growth in the quality and quantity of films
produced, as IFFI has successfully implanted a taste for good cinema among our people. For them,
cinema is no longer just a means of entertainment, but also a source to enhance their awareness and
perspectives.
Not only does IFFI provide lovers of cinema an opportunity to indulge into a cinematic fiesta for 9
eventful days, it also provides them the opportunity to explore the rich culture, food, art and architecture
of Goa. The special events organized by the Entertainment Society of Goa during the festival add
colour to the festival.
I take this opportunity to welcome all cinema lovers from around the country and the world to join us in
celebrating one of the largest carnivals of cinema. I wish the Festival all the success.
