INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT MOJAN
The Outdoor Centre Mojan
is situated in the building
that once served as a border
military base, called Dujo
Puharic. This base housed
up to 30 soldiers whose
duty was to guard the border
between the former Socialist
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
and Albania.
Within the quarters, you can
still see some of the markings
set back then – a guard
house and border pyramid.
Besides these, the solders
from the entire former Yugoslavia
who used to serve
army here were responsible
for the maintenance of
the patrolling trail that went
along the mountain reef and
summer watchtowers whose
remains can still be seen
along the entire trail.
The Outdoor Centre Mojan
is situated in a village of an
unusual name Japan and
when approaching the village
you will see a signpost
where the name of the village
is written in Montenegrin
and Japanese language!
There are several versions
of the story how this village
was named, we are going
to tell two, supported most
by the locals. One of them is
that the village was named
thus because it’s situated right
at the foothill of Komovi
and the first rays of sunshine
light up this village and that
is why it resembles the Land
of the Rising Sun. When
the spring comes, an abundance
of cherry blossoms,
later on cherry fruit can be
seen all around, same as in

ROOM 1 - ETHNO
This is a triple room with motives
that mirror the spirit of the surroundings.
All our rooms are thematic;
these themes are chosen
through characteristic motives
which can be found in this area.
This room is on the ground floor
of the building, its view facing the
Mojan river and it is decorated
with traditional rural motives.

ROOM 2 - APPLE
This is a five-bed room, ideal for
a group of friends or for family. It
is decorated with apple motives
since they abound in this area.
Two of the beds are bunk-bed and
the rest are single ones. The room
features a wardrobe, a wood
stove and several bedside tables.
This room also faces the river.

ROOM 3 - LOVE
This is the only double room in
the centre and quite intentionally
its theme is love so it is decorated
accordingly. This room also features
a wood stove, a wardrobe,
it’s located on the second floor of
the building facing the yard. It is
ideal for couples or friends.

ROOM 4 - DAISY
This is the only quad room, its
theme being a daisy which grows
abundantly during the spring, in
the area as well as in the yard.
This room also has a wood stove
and wardrobe but with a special
feature – this is the only room
in the building where you have a
direct view at the massif Komovi
upon waking up.

ROOM 5 - JAPAN
This is a five-bed room whose theme is
Japan, the country which bears the same
name as the village where our hostel is
situated. It is decorated with the motives
of Japanese cherry and 50 trees of this
cherry are planted in the area of the Outdoor
Centre Mojan. This room is ideal for
families or group of friends, it features a
wood stove and it can be heated during
the winter. It has a view over the Mojan
river, whose gurgle might wake you up in
the morning.

ROOM 6 - TEA
This is a triple room, two bunkbeds,
and one single. Its theme
are medicinal and aromatic herbs,
you can find them anywhere in
the area. The room also features
the view of the river and it’s ideal
for a group of friends or a family.

ROOM 7 - MUSHROOM
This is also a triple room, two
bunk-beds and one single. Its
theme is a mushroom because
locals have been picking mushrooms
in the woods of this area
for decades and it represents a
significant source of income for
them. This room also has a view
over the Mojan river.

ROOM 8 - PINE
This is a five-bed room, two bunkbeds,
3 single ones. It is situated
on the second floor of the building
and it features the view over the
river. It has a wood stove so it can
be heated. The theme is a pine,
since there are a lot of conifers at
this altitude, some even around
the building.

ROOM 9 - PLUM
This is the only single room in the
building, its theme being the plum,
a well-known fruit of the area. It is
particularly important to mention
that a famous plum brandy is made
from it and almost every household
of the village Japan and the
entire area makes it. The room features
a view of the front gate and
sports terrains and it’s situated on
the second floor of the building.

COMMON ROOMS
The Outdoor Centre Mojan features several
premises intended for the common
use of all the guests. The living room is
also a dining room, and it is the most important
common space and the largest
one in the building. Every floor has two
toilets and two showers. It is important to
say that it is necessary to follow the rules
of house order when the use of common
rooms is in question so all the guests can
feel comfortable.

THE YARD
The yard of our Centre is as beautiful
and cozy to stay as the inside of
the building. We have given our best
to find the purpose for every nook of
the yard and to equip it with contents
that will improve the time spent with
us. We’ve got a sports field, table tennis
sets, area for tents and campers,
fireplace and barbeque, benches and
tables. And all these things are placed
within a kind of a park dominated by
pine and birch trees that provide a
pleasant shade.

TENT CAMP
The area of the centre is large and the plot is flat, scattered
with different trees which offer a nice shade. Up
to ten tents can be placed within the yard. The guests
of the camp can use the bathrooms and other services
of the centre and, in the yard, benches, tables, fireplace
and sports equipment are available. We can also rent
you tents, sleeping bags and sleeping pads, whether you
want to camp in the centre or explore the surrounding
mountains and spend the night somewhere in nature.
CAMPER PARK
Between the main building and Mojan river, tucked
between the pines, there’s an area for campers. It can
easily host 6 campers and they wouldn’t disturb one another.
We have supplied electricity outlets and the toilets,
showers and washing machines can be used in the centre
itself. The yard is also provided with wooden benches
and tables, all of these can be used by campers. We also
have a common fireplace where, as we’ve seen, a lot of
our guests like to spend time.

BARBEQUE
There is a common fireplace within our yard
which can easily be used for preparing picnics,
for example, for baking sausages or potatoes
in its crust. We also have a barbeque
which can be used by our guests if they want
to prepare food by themselves.
BOTANICAL GARDEN
Since this was a military, border base earlier, the military have paid
a special attention to planning a yard and planted a lot of different
trees and decorative plants. Unfortunately, years of abandonment
and ill maintenance have brought to disappearance of decorative
plants but the trees brought and planted by the soldiers are still
here to offer shade to our guests. Beside these, we plan to plant
some species characteristic for the area of the Regional Nature
Park Komovi in certain parts of the yard, in order to complete a
kind of botanical garden we have here and create an attractive
feature for our guests.

NATURE
What’s special about our location
is its proximity to the famous mountain
Komovi whom most people
have heard about and recently this
zone has been declared a Regional
Park of Nature. However, what we
consider equally important and attractive
places are other, unknown
mountains, a whole range of mountains
that extend from Komovi towards
Prokletije, along the very
border with Albania. These are the
places tourists rarely choose for a
simple reason that this is an unfamiliar
territory but easily accessible
if you stay with us. And when you
slowly start exploring, you’ll realize
why this region is declared a nature
park, why this is the Emerald Zone
and natural heritage that should be
preserved and protected. You’ll find
a true wilderness here, real virgin
forests, you’ll feel as if you’re the
first person who stepped on unknown
and untouched territory. This
isn’t a marketing tale, this is the fact
and you’ll see it for true when you
visit us.

KATUNS
Katuns are a cultural heritage of
this region, the settlements of the
nomadic farmers who move their
herds to high mountain pastures
during the summer and make temporary,
authentic settlements there
which are very characteristic in
architecture. This tradition almost
died off in Europe and it slowly subsides
in Montenegro and there are
less and less stockbreeders who
are going to katuns. But, they still
exist and some can be found close
to our Centre. We shall gladly direct
you to some of the katuns worth the
visit and you can see and enjoy katuns’
food which is widely appreciated
for it excellent taste and exceptionally
healthy and practically
organic ingredients used in preparation.

MOUNTAINEERING PACKAGES
When mountaineering packages are concerned,
we offer several options. Our guests can come and
plan their own tours and we shall provide all the
necessary information and advice for your better
stay, if you are interested in mountaineering. And if
you need a more substantial assistance and more
of our participation for you trip to be better planned
and used, we can offer several types of deals. We
organize one or several-day tours of surrounding
mountains Komovi, Mojan, Asanac, etc.
BIKING PACKAGES
This area is highly attractive for mountain biking
and, depending on the amount of adrenaline you
search, we can offer different options. We make
one or several-day deals, in accordance to your

HORSE RIDING
If you desire a real adventure, we can make a deal
for you which will include mountaineering and horse
riding, and the horses will be rented in the village.
They are equipped with traditional pack saddles so
you will have a chance to try on an activity practiced
by the locals for centuries and to get to know
this area on horseback. Locals can accompany you
if you have no experience with horses or if you need
help in orientation.

Our center and the surrounding area need a lot of hard work in
order to enrich the sustainable touristic offer as well as to improve
possibilities for better income and better life conditions of
local population. So those who want to spend their holiday doing
something good for rural area are invited to use the responsible
tours and to help us spread the network of trails for biking
and mountaineering, to plan some important places and to have
some great time all together!

in order to choose one best for them and with the aim of
healthier lifestyles in mind, we offer outdoor camps where we can
organize several activities, depending on the time of year.

who want to get away from their offices for team
building activities or for getting new knowledge, making important
deals that need certain peace and isolation, our center is an
ideal place! In between the meetings or trainings, you will find
