Polyester <strong>IDY</strong> HMLS<br />
(High-Modulus Low-Shrinkage)<br />
HMLS yarns are the product that not only car tires but also<br />
V belts, conveyor belts, marine ropes and hoses are made<br />
of. The benefit of this yarn – manufactured on <strong>Oerlikon</strong><br />
<strong>Barmag</strong> lines – is the high dimensional and thermal stability<br />
combined with a high tenacity and high modulus.<br />
This finally leads to a reduced amount of yarn required <strong>for</strong><br />
the same final product properties.<br />
The process range of the <strong>Oerlikon</strong> <strong>Barmag</strong> line allows a wellbalanced<br />
strength-to-elasticity ratio under all circumstances.<br />
The <strong>Barmag</strong> HMLS concept has been engineered to produce<br />
a high per<strong>for</strong>mance yarn <strong>for</strong> various technical applications<br />
but also be flexibly convertible to run HT/LS yarns,<br />
allowing yarn manufacturers to quickly adapt their processes<br />
to changing market demands and requirements.<br />
For tire cord – as one of the main applications <strong>for</strong> PET HMLS<br />
yarns – the carcass determines the load-carrying capacity,<br />
the com<strong>for</strong>t of the tire and the dynamic behavior.<br />
