Northbrook has a bevy of fun and festive events for all ages this holiday season. Forget about the freezing temperatures and the snow — make memories with your families instead at these entertaining venues. Whether you’re looking for Santa Claus, making gingerbread houses or listening to holiday music, there’s something for everyone this season. Whatever you’re looking for, the Northbrook community has something to offer for everyone. Below is a list of some of Northbrook’s brightest holiday events. DIY Gifts Pop-up On Friday, Dec. 1, Drop in to expand your gift giving repertoire with these quick crafts from 2-3 p.m. at the Northbrook Public Library, 1201 Cedar Lane. A different one will be featured each week. No registration necessary. All materials provided as supplies last. Ages 10 and up welcome. For more information, visit northbrook.info or call (847) 272-6224. Live Nativity at Reds Saturday, Dec. 3, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Reds Garden Center and Fireplace Logs, 3460 Dundee Road, Northbrook. Visit Reds for a live Nativity scene. Say hello to Santa while you’re there. Gingerbread Workshop Enjoy a fun family tradition on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Tyson Morgan and his daughter Lauren, of Northbrook, take a look at their gingerbread home at a prior Gingerbread Workshop at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave., Northbrook. This year’s event takes place Dec. 6. 22nd century Media File Photo Ave. For $45, families can decorate a gingerbread house for a one-of-a-kind centerpiece or gift. The Northbrook Park District supplies pre-assembled houses, candy and frosting, along with pizza and soda for the adult/child program. Sign up online or at the park district registration office. Holiday Boutique and Luncheon The Northbrook Woman’s Club will once again be hosting its annual Holiday Boutique and Luncheon from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, at Skokie Country Club, 500 Washington Ave., Glencoe. It’s a great way to stock up on your holiday and hostess gifts. Come shop and dine to the sounds of the Glenbrook North High School Express Show Choir. Funds raised go toward grants for nonprofits serving Northbrook residents and scholarships for high school and postsecondary school students. Senior Center Holiday Party A holiday party will celebrate the season with lunch, entertainment, raffles and prizes starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield. That’s where 22nd Century Media’s 2017 Holiday Guide comes in. Tall Trees Turkey Trot 5K 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Tall Trees Park, Waukegan Road and Lake Avenue. The 21st Annual Turkey Trot is a 5K run (or walk) through a Glenview residential neighborhood that benefits Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook, serving 2,500 children annually.
