This is Henry’s room.
He spends a lot of time in his room playing
with toys and games.

Henry wakes up and remembers that it is
Saturday.
He can play with his friends all day long.

Henry’s mother makes him his favorite
breakfast.
Henry quickly eats his waffles so he can
go outside in the snow with his friends.

It is very cold out on Saturday morning.
Henry wants to be warm.
He goes back to his house to put on his
warm hat.

Henry goes back outside to play with his
friends.
He is happy and warm with his red hat on
his head.
Henry finds some rocks for a snowman’s
face and buttons.

Henry walks to the play yard.
He sees all of his friends playing in the
snow.

A big wind blows at Henry.
The wind blows Henry’s hat right off of
his head.

Boy, that big wind blew Henry’s hat into
the sky.
You would think Henry’s hat had wings.

The big wind blows Henry’s hat up over
the houses and into the clouds.

Henry looks under a tree.
He is happy to see something red.
It was not Henry’s hat at all.
A pretty red cardinal was all that it was.

All of Henry’s friends join together to
look for his hat.

Henry is getting cold without his red hat.
He thanks all of his friends for helping
him to look for his hat.
Henry heads for home.

Henry feels sad as he walks back to his
house.

When Henry gets home, he sees that it is
snowing.

He takes off his coat and boots, but there
is no hat.
He tells his mother that he lost his red hat
because a big wind blew it right off of his
head.

The next morning Henry’s friends come
to visit him.
Henry tells his friends that he can not go
outside to play without his red hat.

Henry looks out of the window.
It makes him sad that he can not go out to
play in the snow.

Henry goes to his grandmom’s house to
visit.
The doorbell rings and Henry opens the
door.
He is surprised to see his friends.

Henry sees that his friends have a big
yellow box with a blue ribbon.
My goodness, what could it be?

A new hat!
Henry’s friends brought him a big one - to fit
his big head!

Henry goes back outside to play with his
friends.
He is happy and warm with his new hat on.
Henry and his friends build a big fat snowman!
Will Henry lose his new hat?

Henry will not lose his new hat.
It has ear laps and a nice strap under his
chin.

It is safe to say that Henry’s red hat will
keep a sweet bird family nice and warm.

About the Author
Linda Margulis-Yant, a native of Burlington County, New Jersey, is a first-time
author. Linda is happily married to her husband Jack - her staunchest fan. She
is also a mother and grandmother; roles in which she embraces. Linda has a
diverse background. She spent 30 years in the corporate sector and since then
she has devoted her time to hypnotherapy and children’s stories.
As you can see, she is a gifted artist as well. Linda has honed her craft without
the benefit of formal instruction.
