Welcome... 

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all 

our customers a Happy New Year and thank you for your 

continued support which has been overwhelming during 

2017. 

This season is crammed full of our popular tributes and 

favourites, kicking-off the Spring is the UK’s No.1 swing 

band Jive Aces. Their high energy performance will 

certainly have you on your feet wanting to jive the 

night away. 

In February we see the return of LDN Wrestling and in 

April come along and see Pasha’s brand new show, “The 

Magic of Hollywood” or pop rock group Showaddywaddy. 

Following from their successful tours in 2017 we are 

pleased to welcome back Bob Drury as Neil Diamond, Katie 

Markham with her show-stopping resemblance to music 

icon Adele, Rod Stewart tribute - Some Guys have all the 

Luck, Dire Straits tribute - Money for Nothing and Irish 

favourite Seven Drunken Nights. 

We are also excited to bring you a variety of brand new 

productions for our theatre. Firstly you can spend an 

evening with one of the most famous and charismatic 

Jockeys of all-time Frankie Dettori or enjoy an 

evening of laughter with legendary comedian 

Jimmy Jones. For the music fans, relive the 

memory of Cilla Black with an unforgettable 

show that journey’s its way through Cilla’s life 

and the 60s or sing along to songs like Big Girls 

Don’t Cry, Sherry and many more with our new Frankie 

Vallie and the Four Seasons tribute Walk 

Like a Man. 

We certainly have a fantastic treat 

for our young audiences with two Easter 

productions starting with Easter Bunny Eggs 

Factor for the 2-7 year olds. This is followed by our 

Easter pantomime Alice in Wonderland which stars Britain’s 

Got Talent winner Ashleigh with her dog Sully along with 

children’s favourite TV presenter Dave Benson Phillips. 

There is also one further star casting still to be announced.

OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW 

TIERED SEATING REFURBISHMENT 

As part of the Princes Theatre’s on-going restoration 

project we are pleased to announce that the theatre 

has now been transformed with a £40,000 seating 

refurbishment. Audience Systems installed seats 

in the theatre’s tiered section more than 20 years 

ago and returned to put in 332 new ones. We are so 

delighted with the improvement and we are certain 

you will be too. The new 

seating is of a high 

standard and identical 

to that used in London’s 

O2 Arena. The project 

also involved the 

installation of hand 

rails.

2017 was an exciting year for the Princes Theatre 

with the introduction of our brand new box office 

and website. By bringing this in-house we feel 

we have been able to offer a faster and efficient 

service to our customers by dealing with booking 

enquiries first hand rather than going through a 

third party. Over the past couple of months you may 

have noticed that following a show you receive an 

automated email requesting feedback. We feel that 

obtaining customer feedback is vital to our business 

as we want to ensure our customers not only 

get value for money but have an enjoyable visit 

and continue to return again and again. Please 

take a minute to provide us with feedback. All 

feedback is welcome. 

ONGOING PROJECTS 

One of the areas that will be looked at next will 

be the public conveniences, starting with the 

ladies which are in much need of a facelift. The 

refurbishment allows for additional cubicles which 

will certainly help with queues during our busy 

shows. The Town Hall is a grade 2 listed building and 

as soon as the plans have been approved work will 

commence. We are also planning to reinvest money 

into overhauling our sound system.

FEBRUARY 5th 

Piantel - Dylan Cernyw & Annette Bryn Parri 

Piantel is an established musical duo that has 

been performing as soloists on harp and piano 

for many years; in 2005 they decided to combine 

their musical talents to bring you Piantel.

FEBRUARY 12th 

The Rev. Richard Coles Currently enjoying 

great audiences and reviews on Sunday nights 

with Marriella Forstrup on the BBC’s Big Painting 

challenge The Rev Richard Coles is one of the few 

celebrities to have successfully bridged the gap 

between pop music and the pulpit. 

FEBRUARY 19th 

Jazz at the Movies is a unique jazz group who 

put an irresistible spin on classic movie themes 

and soundtrack songs from silver screen sources 

both familiar and obscure. 

FEBRUARY 26th 

Ash Bhardwaj respected filmmaker, travel 

journalist and public speaker, who brings 

infectious enthusiasm and vivid, humorous 

personal insights to his storytelling. 

MARCH 5th 

Michael Law’s Piccadilly Dance Orchestra 

with The Gatsby Girl Dancers The songs 

written for Broadway and the West End of the 

1920s and 30s are acknowledged to be some of 

the greatest ever written. Foot tapping music 

played by superb musicians.

Jump,Jive & Wail 

The Jive Aces, are renowned worldwide for their 

high-energy music and spectacular stage show. 

They are perhaps best known as the first live band 

to reach the final rounds of “Britain’s Got Talent” 

and for their award winning viral video,“Bring Me 

Sunshine”, which has 3 million views online 

and is so uplifting it’s even been prescribed 

by a doctor! 

This swinging sextet average 300 shows a 

year and have performed for The Queen, 

as well as working with Van Morrison, 

John Travolta among many 

others. They have also played 

to capacity crowds at The Royal 

Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace, 

Glastonbury Festival, The London 

Olympics and have graced stages in 40 countries, 

including major theatre tours in the USA. 

They famously cheered up a grumpy Simon 

Cowell and wowed the judges on “BGT”. Other TV 

appearances include: “Strictly Come Dancing”,

DETTORI 

This year marks the 20-year anniversary of 

one of the most amazing feats ever witnessed 

in horseracing. 

One of the greatest and most charismatic jockeys of alltime, 

Frankie Dettori is set to reach a milestone achieved 

by only five other Flat jockeys in British history. 

Dettori has won races in 24 different countries across the 

world, including far-flung places such as Turkey, Sweden, 

Slovakia and Trinidad and Tobago. He has also won some of 

the biggest races around the world including, the Prix de l’Arc 

de Triomphe four times (1995, 2001, 2002, 2015), the Dubai 

World Cup three times (2000, 20003, 2006) and 11 wins at 

the Breeders Cup meeting. 

Dettori took part in the 11th series of reality TV show Celebrity 

Big Brother, finishing seventh. Dettori also appeared as a 

team captain on Question of Sport for two years (2003-2005), 

opposite his rival captain Ally McCoist.

Jimmy 

Jones 

Jimmy Jones is regarded as one of Britain’s most successful live comedians. 

His act is legendary. He was the first stand up comic to release a video which went on to sell 75,000 

copies. Many of today’s successful comedians cite Jimmy as their inspiration and out of pure 

respect – they refer to him as the Guvnor!. 

From the clubs in the South East, to the theatres around the UK and a residency in Las Vegas, 

Jimmy has played them all to sell out crowds. However, TV stations would never air Jimmy, ruling 

his act as too risqué. 

In this his 58th year in show business, Jimmy published his autobiography and returns to the 

Princes Theatre with a great show including his “true stories” supported by hilarious fellow 

comedian and life-long friend, Mickey Pugh

Please be aware that in addition to Tendring District Council offering a free car park permit 

for every household in the District, the Council is operating Free after 6.00pm parking 

for everyone. All TDC car parks (except The Naze and Holland Haven) are free from 

6.00pm to 8.00am. The High Street car park opposite the Princes Theatre, accessible from 

Carnarvon Road has space for up to 200 cars all evening, ground level only. The car park is 

well lit and also covered by CCTV and regular security patrols.

Tickets for shows are available from the Box Office in the Town 

Hall, Visitor Information Centre. You can visit in person or by 

telephone on 01255 686633. Tickets are also available to buy at 

the Box Office on the night of the performance, but it is always 

best to phone first to be sure. We accept all major credit and 

debit cards except American Express. You can also buy online at 

www.princestheatre.co.uk (subject to booking fee). Doors open 

45 mins before show time (unless stated otherwise). 

ORGANISE A GROUP NIGHT OUT 

Why not organise a group night out for friends and family or 

work colleagues? We can offer group booking discounts at many 

performances and will provide you with publicity and other 

support to help you organise a great night out. Contact the

one of our generation’s finest singer-songwriters, and is 

returning to theatres in 2018. 

Hand-picked by Adele herself on Graham Norton’s BBC 

ADELE Special, the outstanding Katie Markham has the 

show-stopping voice and captivating charisma to deliver 

all your favourite Adele hits in an enthralling concert 

performance. 

The show faithfully recreates the magic of the three 

record-breaking albums 19, 21 and 25 - including Chasing 

Pavements, Make You Feel My Love, Set Fire To The Rain, 

Someone Like You, Hello, Rolling In The Deep and the
