“Thank You, Lord” Page 4
Lord, how often we respond to calls to serve you with lame excuses
about our own inadequacies. We always seem to be looking for a way to
avoid your call. Remind us, Lord, that we do not rely on our own strength
or wisdom, but your promise to be with us in every endeavor. In Jesus’
name.
You have blessed us, God of creation, far beyond most of the
peoples of the earth. Help us never to take our blessings for granted,
and help us also to remember that privilege always inspires
responsibility.
Divine love through me blesses and multiplies all that I have, all
that I give, and all that I receive, in the name of Jesus. Amen
The Judgment of the Nations
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he
will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and
he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from
the goats, 33 and he will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats at the
left. 34 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed
by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me
something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and
you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you
visited me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw
you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38 And
when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you
clothing? 39 And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited
you?’ 40 And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of
the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ 41 Then he will
say to those at his left hand, ‘You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal
fire prepared for the devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry and you gave me no
food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you
did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and
you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw
you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take
care of you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it
to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into
eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
-Matthew 25:31-46 (NRSV)
GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
(United Methodist Hymnal #140)
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness,
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Refrain
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
THANK YOU, LORD
(African American Heritage Hymnal #531)
Thank You, Lord, thank You, Lord,
Thank You, Lord, I just want to thank You, Lord.
Been so good, been so good,
Been so good, I just want to thank You, Lord.
The Wall of Honor
Hope’s Wall of Honor is an everlasting tribute to our Veterans. It was designed and
donated to Hope by Brother Sid Taylor, a US Marine, Vietnam combat veteran and
beloved member of Hope. It is a memorial tribute to commemorate the sacrifices our
veterans have made for our country. We are grateful to Sid and his family for blessing
us all with the beautiful Wall of Honor.
7
New names are added to the Wall of Honor every Veteran’s Day. If you, a loved one, or
a friend served in the armed forces and would like to be added to the Wall, please
complete the Wall of Honor form located in the Literature Rack and place it in the Wall of
Honor mailbox outside the Sanctuary. God bless you.

The holiday season is upon us and as we enjoy
the upcoming weeks ahead celebrating the birth
of our Lord, let us not forget about those
families who struggle . The Angel Tree Program
"adopts" families to provide gifts for children
and to give the parents a helping hand in
providing a Merry Christmas. This year the
Missions Ministry have received 50 needy
families' wish list. We are requesting that you
consider adopting a child(ren) or a family
and fulfill their wish list.
Missions Ministry will have a table outside of
the sanctuary after both services through
December 10 for you to sign up and select a
family and accept the gifts.
Thank you for your consideration
Dear Hope visitors and friends,
If you would like to become a member
of Hope UMC Church and don’t want to
take that long walk down the aisle, you
can join Hope Church just by calling
Reverend Green at 248-262-5129. We
will begin the process with your call or
you can stop by the church office
Tuesday through Friday.
