<strong>Change</strong> <strong>Invoice</strong> <strong>Number</strong> <strong>or</strong> <strong>Other</strong> <strong>Transactions</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>QuickBooks</strong> Onl<strong>in</strong>e<br />

To set up, change <strong>or</strong> reset the numbers on transaction f<strong>or</strong>ms, you should turn on custom<br />

transactions numbers. Perf<strong>or</strong>m the follow<strong>in</strong>g steps provided by <strong>QuickBooks</strong> supp<strong>or</strong>t.<br />

At the left click gear icon and then go to account and sett<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

From the menu on the left-hand side click sales.<br />

Click on edit icon under sales f<strong>or</strong>m content.<br />

Tick the box beside custom transaction numbers.<br />

Hit the save button.<br />

The follow<strong>in</strong>g sales f<strong>or</strong>ms will be affected, if you enable custom transaction numbers will affect:<br />

<strong>Change</strong> the sett<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a different place to enable custom transaction f<strong>or</strong>ms on purchase <strong>or</strong>ders:<br />

Click the gear icon located on the left side and then account & sett<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

From the menu on the left click on expenses.<br />

Go the purchase <strong>or</strong>der section and hit the edit icon.<br />

Tick the box f<strong>or</strong> custom transaction numbers.<br />

Hit the save button and then click done.<br />

To have numbers & letters <strong>or</strong> just numbers, you can now change your transaction numbers. A<br />

new number <strong>in</strong> the sequence will be auto-populated by the new transactions. If the number<strong>in</strong>g<br />

is changed on only one of the f<strong>or</strong>m types, other sales f<strong>or</strong>ms will take on the same number<strong>in</strong>g<br />

sequence. F<strong>or</strong> example:<br />

User changed <strong>in</strong>voices only to: AT101<br />

Estimates, credit memos, and the rest of the f<strong>or</strong>ms will follow same sequence: AT101,<br />

AT102, and so on.<br />

If on each transaction type, you change the number<strong>in</strong>g f<strong>or</strong>m, they will hold the new number<br />

and run <strong>in</strong> sequence f<strong>or</strong> that type of transaction:<br />

F<strong>or</strong> example:<br />

<strong>Invoice</strong>s: I-1001, I-1002, etc.<br />

Estimates: AT101, AT102, etc.<br />

Sales Receipts: 5001, 5002, etc.<br />

The same rule applies to credit memos, refund receipts, charges, and credits.<br />
