REFURBISHMENT
Giving the customer more choice
As one of the largest water jetting machine
manufacturers in the UK, Jetchem and Superjet have
a wealth of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of
the jetting industry. We know that investing in a jetting
system is a huge commitment with performance,
reliability and longevity of a unit being top of the list.
Generally a jetting machine is a hard wearing piece
of kit and with regular service and maintenance can
last for many years. As well as operating six
nationwide depots across the UK backed up by a
large service fleet we also specialise in refurbishing
jetting machines.
We can refurbish practically any jetting machine from
small trolley units to trailer, van and lorry mounted
automatic gearbox and all new ‘operator friendly’ hot
shift PTO hydraulic drive system. On request we
fitted extra storage facilities on the externals of the
unit for tools and equipment. After discussing the
customer’s requirements a high pressure water
jetting system was fitted with a unique performance
(pressure and flow).
PORTABLE ELECTRIC
JETTING MACHINE
The Plumber’s Mate was purposefully designed to
be used in limited access areas. Incorporating the
ability for the pump unit to be detached and used
without the main hose reel, thus enabling the unit
to be used in extremely confined spaces or hard
to reach areas.
Finally a high specification camera system, providing
all round visibility which would ensure safer working
in pedestrianised areas, was fitted. Choosing to
refurbish a jetting unit can sometimes be the most
financially sound decision, prolonging a vehicle or
jetting unit’s lifespan considerably. If you would like

performance of 100 bar @ 10 lpm, running off a
240v electric motor and comes with 20 metres of
mini jet hose, 10 metres of micro hose and 1.5
metres of suction hose.
units. We recently relocated our Midlands depot to
larger premises, which is our central location for our
refurb team. The larger premises have enabled us to
accommodate more units such as JetVac tankers,
being able to fully modify tankers with complete
refurbishments, re-chassis, painting and fitting of
extra’s such as storage facilities.
A recent project we undertook was to refurbish a
medium volume 18 tonne tanker for a valued
customer. Our refurb division, which is based at
Superjet Midlands, worked closely with the customer
to agree on what was suitable. On this particular
refurb a full re-chassis was decided along with a
general overhaul and refurbishment.
We sourced a brand new DAF LF55 chassis, with the
customer requesting an extended day cab for added
storage. Included was a 3000 series fully

Kent drainage have recently purchased three new
jetting units from ourselves, opting for the
lightweight 3600psi @ 14gpm vanpack which is
renowned for its reliability and performance.
A jetting lance is included giving the ability for
vehicle cleaning and light surface cleaning. Jets
include 2 x 1/4” drain jets and a 1 x 1/8” micro jet.

HIRE OR BUY?
When it comes to the decision of whether to hire
equipment for the duration of a job or purchase
outright, several factors should be taken in to
account. Cost, duration of the job, maintenance and
servicing and of course age of equipment.
The most obvious and probably most influential
would of course be COST. The initial outlay of
purchasing can be quite a drain on resources and, in
some cases, not always affordable. To help alleviate
this problem Jetchem and Superjet were the first
company to introduce the COMBO DEAL to the
water jetting market, an all in one package which
includes a suitable vehicle, a jetting pack installed
from our vanpack range and any accessories the
customer required. All this for one low cost hire
payment per month. This package also includes
servicing and maintenance, which really does make
it the worry free deal we had been aiming for and has
proved extremely successful.
Another factor to take in to account is the duration of
the job.
Most companies within the industry will have regular
work that involves certain types of equipment, a drain
cleaning contractor for example will likely have a
jetting pack of some sort, either trailer or van
mounted but there can also be those ‘one off’ jobs
that need a more specialised type of tool such as
patch lining repairs, a task not all drainage
contractors undertake on a regular basis but may
possibly do as part of a job if required.
If this is the case it can be much more cost effective
to hire the equipment in to complete the repair rather
than purchasing items that may not be used very
often. Our partnership with Re-Tec for all our lining
equipment is proving valuable and allows us to offer
specialist equipment, such as the Viking Lateral
Cutter (hand controlled robot for opening re-lined
lateral connections) at an affordable daily rate.

Our nationwide depots and service fleet is just
one of the reasons many of our customers choose
us. Knowing they have the back up to hand, 24
hours a day, no matter where they may be in the
country is a very important factor. All our hire units
are covered by our service package but we also
extend this to any customers purchasing
equipment from us. The benefit of hiring can be
this new technology. Hiring a unit on short or long
terms can allow a customer to make use of any
new technology coming in to the market with little
to no extra cost.
This doesn’t mean any new technology or
innovations can’t be available to customers with
older units. We have several ways of bringing an
older jetting unit right up to date. Our refurb
department utilises the same high quality parts

When it comes to hiring we have one of the largest
hire fleets in the UK with units ranging from small
trolley jetting packs to ultra high pressure and LGV
mounted combination units. We have also tailored
our pricing to make hiring a jetting machine, whether
it’s just for a day or for several years, an affordable
option.
If purchasing a jetting unit is decided upon then our
dedicated sales team have years of experience in
the industry and the fact that every unit is built at our
manufacturing depot in the North West of England
means we can advise and build the most suitable
jetting pack for the task at hand.

These ‘one off’ hires is an area we specialise in,
especially when it comes to our ancillary equipment.
Some of the more demanding tasks contractors have
to deal with require a more specialised piece of
machinery, which in most cases, is not kept as part of
the general hardware. As an example, removing
concrete from pipelines requires the use of a Polyrep
or similar tool, which can be hired just for the days
use. Other similar tools such as the Badger Jet,
Warthogs and our Root
Ultra High Pressure machines
Cutting equipment can be hired from one day up to
several months.
On the other hand we have come across larger
companies such as water utilities and local councils
who will hire jetting units on a yearly contract even
though they may only be used several times a year,
as the longer hire term and assurance from our
service and maintenance packages, can prove better
value than several short term hires.
Variety of trailer jetters
and workmanship that goes in to the
manufacture of our new units, updating a ‘tired’
vehicle or trailer can be a very simple and
inexpensive option. We are also able to provide
‘add-ons’ for existing jetting units such as our
Radio Remote system, which can be installed
onto a jetting pack allowing more flexibility for
the user.
The choice of whether to buy or hire a jetting
machine will always be down to personal choice
and circumstances of the customer. Both
options offering pros and cons and we, as the
manufacturer and retailer, can only offer our
advice to potential customers.
What we do know is that offering both excellent
hire packages with affordable rates and terms,
together with cutting edge, reliable, UK built
machines at competitive prices gives our
customers the best and most informative choice
when it comes to water jetting machines and

Jetchem and Superjet are one of the largest
manufacturers of high and ultra high pressure
water jetting equipment in the UK. We pride
ourselves on providing an extremely well performing

This year we decided to expand on this concept
and travel the whole of the UK with a selection of

compact petrol jetter or the ever popular lightweight

COMPLETE VEHICLE
FITTING OUT
We have recently undertaken an order on behalf
of a valued customer who required three new
vanpacks to join their existing fleet, all fitting to
their supplied Mercedes Sprinter vans.
Prior to the fitting of the jetting packs a full van
lining was applied which provides a complete
water tight seal in the working areas of the van.
Once this was completed we fitted the vans with
our 50hp vanpack model. This particular build
had a performance of 3600 psi @ 14 gpm,
supplied with full radio remote and a range of
accessories.

WINTER SERVICING
Preparing your jetting unit for the colder months is a
task all operators should be thinking about now.
We all know that living in the UK can see
temperatures drop to freezing at unexpected times
and finding a frozen pump at the start of the working
day is certainly not something any contractor would
wish to find.
Our service contracts are the ideal way of making
sure your unit is maintained all year round and not
just during the winter months. For those not wishing
to sign up to a contract we also offer ‘one off’
servicing either on site by one of our service
engineers or at one of our nationwide depots.

Our winter service includes all the standard checks
but with the addition of a full coolant flush together
with antifreeze and frost protection checks.

required and part of our build was the installation
of a storage shelf above the unit which is able to
accomodate a range of equipment such as drain
rods, gully grabs etc.
The middle bulk head was partially lined, with the
customer keeping this space for working and
storage.
Along with supplying the three new build units we
were also tasked with removing two packs from
their current fleet and re-installing into newly
supplied vehicles. Jetting packs are designed to
be robust and with regular servicing and
maintenance can offer a lifetime of service.

FOND FAREWELL
This edition we bid a fond farewell to one of the
longest standing members of the sales team,
Gordon Taylor. Gordon has been with the company
since it was established in 1991, becoming a firm
favourite with some of our customers.
Gordon recently
decided to retire
after over 26
years in the
industry. “I’ve
had a fantastic
time working at
Jetchem over
the years and
seeing how the
industry has
changed with the
company expanding from just a small building to
having six nationwide depots across the UK. I have
loved every minute and i’ll certainly miss my
colleagues at Jetchem and of course the many
customers I have had the pleasure of meeting over
the years”.
SALES REP IS
RACING AHEAD
Our Midlands area sales rep and training
instructor, Andrew Cossar, likes to keep things in
the fast lane even at weekends.
Being part of the Cossar Racing team, Andrew
and family took part in the Speedway Grand Final
on Saturday 14th October at Belle Vue in
Manchester.
Andrew’s son Mark went on to win the final and the
British Speedway Sidecar Championship.
Congratulations to everyone involved.

RETIREMENT
Last month we said our farewells to one of our
workshop technicians at Head Office, Harry
McTighe, who retired this September.
Harry was a valued member of staff and will be
missed sadly by everyone at our Head Office and
throughout the company as a whole.
We wish Harry all the best with his retirement.
SUPRISE
CHRISTMAS DELIVERY
November saw a very unexpected delivery for our
Workshop Manager at Head Office, Michael Barry,
with the arrival of Lucy May.
Michael and his partner, Lynne, had no idea of the
imminent arrival of their baby girl to add to their
already family of four which includes their eldest
son Christopher and daughter Katie.
Lucy was born on Wednesday the 22nd November
at 4pm, weighing a healthy but tiny 4lbs 13oz. A
very suprised Michael said “Although it’s an
unexpected surprise, Lucy May has stolen our
hearts and completed our family. We really
couldn’t have wished for a better christmas
present”.

We attended this years Metro Rod Conference
which was on the 18th November at the Celtic
Manor Resort in South Wales.
Peter Ansell and Lloyd Couch attended, “ It was a
pleasure to attend the event and meet the many
franchisee’s”.
