Andorra is a fantastic place to learn to ski, with fantastic 

snow all throughout the long season, which usually 

starts in November and ends in April. The principality 

of Andorra is full of character and charm while being 

exciting and fun for school groups. The area also provides 

shopping, restaurants and other fun a après ski activities 

such as; bowling, swimming and ice-skating and you’re 

sure to provide a trip there that’s not only energetic but 

that offers more than just skiing.

Grandvalira is a superb base 

for your next school ski trip. 

It boasts over 200km of 

slopes all inter-connected 

by modern lifts, some good 

quality accommodation and 

high altitude skiing with 

piles of snow all season 

long – we love Andorra and 

our groups do too! 

The skiing, the snowfall and off-the slopes 

A little over ten years ago, Grandvalira was formed by joining together the areas of 

Soldeu, Pas de la Casa, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp. Today, these areas are linked by 

modern lifts create a huge ski area boasting 210km of pistes of all colours and types. 

Grandvalira proclaims to be the ‘Domain of the snow’ – we cannot argue. Year on year, 

metres of snow fall across Andorra, and Grandvalira has a long, snow-assured season. 

Many groups will be accommodated in the town of Pas de la Casa where there is plenty 

to keep your group occupied including a large shopping centre. The town centre is 

small and safe. In addition, the whole of Andorra is accessible in a short drive as it is 

such a small country.

Vallnord is one of the most 

popular school ski trip destinations 

for Ski Adaptable. 

Our groups love the quality

Vallnord consists of three main ski areas, Pal, Arcalis and Arinsal. Pal and Arinsal are linked by 

lifts, whilst Arcalis is just a short, free ski bus ride down the road. The Arinsal-Pal sector is easily 

reached through several access points, notably two main lifts at Arinsal village, and another link 

gondola from La Massana. 

Nearly all slopes sit above 1900m, up to 2625m, and many slopes face an easterly direction. This 

ensures that even when much of Europe may be having a bad snow year, Vallnord has snow in 

abundance and is an extremely reliable resort for snow. 

Many hotels in the Vallnord area offer excellent on site facilities such as games rooms and discos. 

In addition, the whole of Andorra is accessible in a short drive as it is such a small country. This 

ensures if it is available in Andorra, it is available to your group.

Zell am See is a superb choice 

for school ski trips. Set aside a 

lake which is often frozen over, 

Zell is set amongst an unusual 

horse-shoe-shaped mountain 

range, with some great glacier 

skiing just down the road in 

Kaprun. 


The skiing in Zell am See is split into 2 areas, the main pistes of Zell am See itself and the nearby 

slopes of Kaprun, home to the excellent skiable Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Zell am See slopes 

offer a huge range of pistes which will no doubt keep all abilities occupied all week. 

Snow-sure is a phrase that can definitely be applied to Zell am See, with the assurance of skiing 

year round in Kaprun available. Zell itself has an excellent snow record, but in the back of your 

mind knowing skiing at Kaprun is close by adds further assurance. 

Zell itself has some superb après ski options, including a top-quality sports and swimming centre. 

In addition, an ice rink and ice hockey matches take place, as does a weekly free ski show in 

Zell am See. Nearby, the beautiful Salzburg offers further options for evening activities.

La Toussuire is part of the 

extensive Les Sybelles network 

in the southern French 

Alps. Widely unknown in British 

circles, Les Sybelles is often the 

resort of choice for the French, 

meaning this is the perfect place 

for school ski trips due to lower 

prices and uncrowded pistes, 

yet modern and extensive lifts 

systems. 


Staying in La Toussuire, your school ski trip group will have ski-to-door accommodation with easy access 

to the whole Les Sybelles network of 310km of pistes – the fourth largest in France. 

All skiing in Les Sybelles takes place between 1550-2620m. Combine this with modern snow-making 

facilities and you can be sure Les Sybelles will have great snow cover throughout the season, from early 

December until Easter. 

La Toussuire is a lively town, but as the resort has not yet majored on the international map 

La Toussuire remains a perfect option for school groups. Essentially, Ski Adaptable like it for schools

gems of the large French by Brits. Although 

popular with French skiers, many Brits have 

yet to discover this incredible resort, despite 

offering much more than some of the other 

big well-known French resorts.

of April many seasons, with fantastic snow cover season

St Gervais – Megève is one 

of our most popular school 

ski resorts, being truly one 

of the last remaining large 

French resort which remains 

largely untouched by British 

school groups. This means 

less crowded slopes and lifts, 

yet beautiful scenery and 

extensive skiing overlooked 

by the towering Mont Blanc. 


Your group will be located in the beautiful spa village of St Gervais which is almost at the foot of 

Mont Blanc. As you would expect, the skiing is impressive and extensive, boasting over 300km 

of pistes over 150 slopes. 

St Gervais – Megève has pistes up to 2525m, and with such an extensive network of lifts 

means this is an excellent resort to ensure snow-sure conditions during the season, from 

December through to Easter. This is boosted with a further 650 snow makers covering the 

slopes. 

St Gervais is a beautiful 19th-century spa town which remains beautifully old-French quaint.

Sauze is a popular choice in the Milky Way network, offering good access to the 212 runs of the 

extensive, 400km Milky Way. Sauze itself, and Sportinia located just above Sauze is an intermediate 

skiers paradise with tree-lined runs to enjoy. 

Sauze d’Oulx offers a good snow record, with the season usually spanning early December through to 

end of April each season. In addition, most slopes on the Milky Way have artificial snow cover ensuring 

on your ski trip. 

It is a small town, or rather a large village with several shops, some good restaurants and a fantastically

Waterville Valley is undoubtedly 

one of the best ski areas in which 

to ski with uncrowded, long 

beginner slopes served by easy 

to use lifts and an uncomplicated 

piste map. However it is not just 

for beginners, being home to current 

and past US Olympians, and 

some challenging runs to boot. 


Waterville Valley is centred on one mountain with runs of all colours that go from the top to the bottom of 

the mountain back to the central Base Lodge area. The ‘Top Dog’ ski hire is conveniently located directly 

next to the central Base Lodge with the ski school right in front making for a slick process. 

Waterville Valley offers the highest altitude skiing in New Hampshire, and whilst not high in comparison 

to European resorts its geographical location in New Hampshire ensures over 4 metres of snow falls each 

season. 

Off the slopes is one of the real beauties of Waterville Valley for school ski trips. Waterville Valley Town
