Teamwork is the best
formula for success
By: Melanie Baum
Magen David Yeshivah
Vivian was having color war in her
camp. She was captain to team one.
She chose all her friends for the committee.
They sat down and started to
work. Vivian and her best friends would
get all the good
jobs. They would
dance and sing.
She gave her
other friends the
jobs of acting and
art. Vivian was so
excited to start.
Alison, a shy girl
asked, “Can I be
in art? I am a really
good artist.”
Vivian didn’t even
look up. “No,” she
said and just left.
When color war
was over, Vivian
looked at Alison’s
work of art. “I
should have picked her,” she thought.
That year Vivian didn’t win color war
but she learned an important lesson.
Magen David Yeshivah
If you have teamwork and you are
working together, then you have a better
chance of winning. If you try to be
the star, you are not going to win because
everyone is trying to be the star.
Prospect Park Yeshivah
One time, when we had color war,
the girl who was chosen to be a captain
didn’t let anyone do anything.
She wrote the song and sang it. She
drew the poster and presented it. Of
Alone we can do
so little,
together we
can do so much.
course, we lost and the other team
who worked together won. Another
year, a girl got chosen as a captain
and she really knew how to be a captain.
She put people who were good
at things in charge of what they were
good at. All she did was present the
poster and make sure everything runs
smoothly. Obviously, we won that year.
Bet Yaakov Orot Sara
Everyone would want to be the captain
so they could get a lot of credit.
People don’t want to make banners
because they don’t get so much attention
for it after only 2 minutes of showing
the banner. One
ESC time, a girl wanted to
help with the banners
and other girls didn’t
let her. At the end, we
lost points for it. When
everyone helped
each other do the
banners and badges,
it came out very good
because everyone
had her own idea
and putting all these
different ideas together
made us win.
Bnos Yisroel
When you are working
on color war, if
you are in charge of badges, people
might say that what you made up is
weird and then you’ll feel like you did it
all for nothing. When everyone fights
and wants to do everything by themselves,
then you are guaranteed to lose
points and lose the whole color war.
