Synopsis: Final Major Project:
My final major project focuses on modestly within fashion
and I have created a collection aimed at a Muslim customer.
I have looked to architecture and been inspired by
shape and structure and the ways that can be interpreted
into clothing.Pleats and gathers are a constant throughout
the collection and are used in different ways within
fabrications to enhance the overall energy of the collection
Synopsis: Levi’s Competition:
My concept for the the levi’s competition is a mix of Russian constructivism with original levi’s made and crafted. I wanted to
design a collection that highlighted the abstract of the Russian constructivism movement while keeping true to the levi’s brand.
the final outcome is a combination of both with the Russian constructivism coming through in the form of stitch detailing
mixed with demin.
Synopsis: Coach Competition:
Coach competition was based around surrealism in particular the work of Salvador Dali. I focused my designs on how the lines
swirl and bend and designed a collection where the seams are manipulated to twist around the body. My colour pallet is a combination
of blue, red and orange and have been directly informed by research pictures.
Synopsis: Burberry Competition:
For the Burberry competition, the flexability of the brief allowed for me to imagine that I was
designing for my own company. I researched into Somali nomadic culture and lifestyle, this
led me to looking closer at traditional dress styles and exploring the concept of ‘self-tying’
styles where a piece of cloth is wrapped around the body multipul times to create an outfit
or garment. This idea came from reasearching into the Somali national dress (Guntiino) and
designing a collection that explores ways of tying a single cloth to make fashion forward silhouettes.
