QTD User Benchmark: How SMUD is using QTD a presentation by Lori Peterson and Kevin Riedinger Conference participants had the opportunity to get a view of how SMUD is using the GAP Survey feature of QTD to gather detailed feedback on their system operators level of comfort using control center tools and performing tasks. Feedback from the gap survey is used to plan and design targeted continuing training for the operators. 2017 Training Trends Presentation Notes In this interactive workshop session, participants learned about the latest (and sometimes surprising!) research surrounding the latest training trends. This segment provided attendees with an overview of many of the “hot topics” training professionals encounter in the course of their work today, including curation, micro-learning, and how people really learn. More than one light bulb went off – check out the following summarized take-aways and lessonslearned for a quick download on the conversations! General session notes: Comments from participants: “A-ha”: The fact that 10,000 hours doing something does not equal mastery is surprising, but makes sense. Idea: Group review and discussion with learners after they’ve taken CBT’s is a great technique to supplement learning, especially when it’s less than exciting! Summary of Trend: Curation • Curation = knowledge management, structuring data in a way that makes it easier for individuals to use quickly. • Helps you to efficiently use data in your operations. • Data overload is occurring now; curation makes it easier to use all the information that’s out there now. Participants’ lessons learned about Curation: • Information overload is a problem, it’s a “friction” in the efficiency of operations.
