Handball – Status Quo
In spite of all popularity handball is practically not played outside the organized environment of handball
clubs.
Handball is rarely part of school sports.
Specifications – Preconditions – Standards
•Fixed preconditions for the sizes of goals, balls
and playing fields
•A fixed number of players is necessary
•Numerous complex rules
Fear of Pain
•The usual ball is hard and especially hurts
the children when catching it
•Beginners are discouraged by the bodyoriented
aspect of the match (e.g. tacklings)
•The players have to possess a high degree of
skills and fitness
•Handball depends on a organized environment
and on sports halls
•A referee or coach is required
Technical Handball Training
The purpose of using the GOALCHA-Street ball in the technical handball training is to
• Promote the learning situation and the development phase of children’s and youngsters’ technical skills
with the ball, MOTORSKILLS
• Develop the patterns of movement, coordination, timing and change of speed in different forms of
passes, variations of shots and tricks, etc.
• Players are successful in the learning phase and are not limited by failing grip and control
• Motivation through success
• When the patterns of movement with the GOALCA ball are adopted, they are never forgotten, and the
precondition of executing and performing the technical detail with a traditional handball is literally at
hand
Passes and shooting
The grib is important and improves:
• Various types of passes and shots
• Use the arm in many different positions
• An “open” or high arm - better chances of
variations and selecting
• Involving the hand-wrist
• Placing the ball around in the goal
12

The throwing arm

• The focus will be on the movement of the arm and the coordination between the arm and the wrist
• To establish a common framework of reference between players and coach it is useful to distinguish
between three positions in the implementation of the shot
High arm
• Where the focus is on the trip ogthe fingers pointing upwards
Arm out from the shoulder
• Where the focus is on the tips of the fingers pointing out towards the wall
Low arm
• Where the focus is on the tips of the fingers pointing downwards
13

Theory of the movement of throwing and shooting

The following elements are important in the shot itself:
•Run-up and change of speed in the last steps
•The stem step
•The initial tightening of the muscles – the arm being drawn back
•The grip of the ball
•The central movement
•The acceleration of the throwing arm
•Arms position
•The implementation of the wrist .
14

Tricks
A good grip and control of the ball has a big importance
for the players’ ability to:
• Focus on the movements
• Change of speed
• The timing
• Use their shoting arms in connection with the trick
getting a free and open arm in the last part of the trick
• The final phase placing the ball around in the goal
The progression will focus on the timing of:
• The run-up phase and the movements without the
ball
• The distance to the defence
15

Method – best practies?
• it is important that the distance to the goal is not
too long, so that the players are not forced to shoot
hard at the cost of focusing on the movement and
the execution of the shot
• It is recommended that you work with relatively
small goals and goal fields than the traditional
ones, and that mini courses and mini goals are
fantastic in this respect.
• More Focus on the Shot Technique and the
Placing of the Ball
• High Activity Level, by 4 to 6 stations in the hall, no
waiting lines, and many actions with the ball
• Space and opportunity for practicing and
experiments with self-elected technical details
• Discovering new posibilities and potentials for the
players individual development
•
Training at home
With the GOALCHA ball the handball players get a
technique and education ball, which they can use in
their development and for training purposes, but also as
part of their playing practices at home, in school,
among their friends, etc.
• Experiments and test self-selected technical details,
without the interference of the coach
• Copy the professionals skills (Mikkel Hansen ect)
• Players’ initiative, creativity and experience often
result in new possibilities and potentials for the
players’ individual development
Preliminary understanding

The conception and preliminary understanding of GOALCHA TM Street
Handball of most teachers, pedagogues, trainers, children, youths and
other interested parties are affected by the values, norms, framework
and practice of the traditional handball sport. That is
-‐ A competitive sport with losers and winners,
-‐ Standardized courts, where you play at 2 goals,
-‐ Tactics with right and wrong solutions,
-‐ Physical contact, where tacklings can seem violent,
-‐ Trainer’s role as a crucial factor,
-‐ Etc.
GOALCHA TM Street Handball promoter’s first task to address the
values, attitudes and guidelines of the GOALCHA TM Street Handball
concept and, thereby, influence the preliminary understanding and
attitudes of the parties involved.
Try and understand
What we say, is also what we do.
That is what should promote and develop GOALCHA Street Handball
Basic Values and Beliefs

•Everybody is welcome
•The game can be played everywhere
•The necessary equipment is reduced to a minimum
•No organization is necessary
• It's no competition
Arenas of movement

The outdoor areas in the schools, the townscape, the residential
neighbourhood, etc., hold great possibilities for the GOALCHA
Street Handball activities. The GOALCHA Street Handball
Promoter must inspire the participants to innovation and
creativity, as to the use of the natural terrain and objects of the
area.
Such a combination between the GOALCHA Street Handball
activities in the different arenas strengthens the developmental
potential of the children and youths, and their motivation to
participate in the structure of movement/activities of GOALCHA
Street Handball.
22

The GOALCHA TM Street Handball Promoter’s
Interactions

what we say, is also what we do
In practice, the GOALCHA TM Street Handball Promoter must, therefore,
always begin with some informal, individual, simple exercises and
tricks, so that the participants are not dependent on cooperating with
others, and, thereby, they create confidence and comfort with the ball
and the GOALCHA TM concept.
By giving the participants time and opportunity to experiment with
the ball and the potential of their bodies, they are often motivated to
involve themselves with the activities of GOALCHA TM Street Handball.
