Draggin Twista Kevlar Jeans<br />

Three years ago I was on the search for a pair of Kevlar jeans<br />

– that didn’t look like Kevlar jeans. I wanted something I could<br />

commute in and spend all day wearing around the office without<br />

looking like I was off to a heavy metal gig after work.<br />

Yep, Kevlar jeans until relatively recently were usually baggy,<br />

heavily stitched affairs with sometimes questionable styling,<br />

but fortunately these days there are any number of companies<br />

producing ‘regular’ looking jeans that offer some protection in<br />

case of a spill. Jeans are never going to offer the same level of<br />

safety as a set of leathers or a full adventure suit but for everyday<br />

riding around town or light off-road work they are just the ticket<br />

for ease of use.<br />

Three years later the Twistas I sourced from Australian<br />

company Draggin Jeans are still going strong. They’re also<br />

still a current product, which makes this test report even more<br />

relevant. The Twistas have Kevlar lining in the seat and knee<br />

areas with pockets for adding optional knee armour. They have a<br />

bit of stretch in them and while slim-cut you can fit base layers<br />

underneath them, and they fit over both my adventure and sports<br />

bike boots. I have worn these in all weathers on many types of<br />

bike and they always look the part while wearing well over the<br />

years.<br />

Retailing in the UK at just over £200 (in Australia: AUS$319)<br />

they aren’t cheap but offer good value compared to some rivals<br />

and Draggin have a well-founded reputation for quality gear. In<br />

all, I can’t fault them. Recommended.<br />
