according as God hath dealt to every
man the measure of faith.
I. INTRODUCTION
This study in faith should bring the student
to a higher level of functioning in Biblical
faith. Through the principles of faith that
you will learn in this course, you will be
able to develop your faith and maximize
your productive potential. My goal is to
help every person to develop a systematic
plan for the development- of their faith
walk. This lesson will present, with

extreme simplicity, the principles of
Biblical faith that I live by daily.
A. Simple Definition of Faith
Mark 11:22-25
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith
in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall
say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be
thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his
heart, but shall believe that those things which he
saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever
he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye
desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have
ought against any: that your Father also which is in
heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Faith in the context of this lesson is a
spiritual principle that taps into the
creative power of God made available
t h r o u g h m a n , w h e r e b y m a n c a n
transform conditions, circumstances
and situations in the natural realm over
which he has been given authority.
The word “Faith” is also used in society
to reference an institutional commitment
to a religious order; for instance, the
Baptist Faith, the Catholic Faith, etc. The
use of the word “faith” in this course is the
spiritual action taken based on God’s
Word to bring the promise of God to pass.
From this context, the Bible has much to
say and the scripture stresses the

importance of the believer understanding
Biblical faith.
B. Believers Must be _________ in Faith;
it is Not Automatic with Salvation.
1 Thessalonians 5:23;
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 3:1-6
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is
old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and
be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom
of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit.
Romans 12:1-2
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth
itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ;
II. WHY IS FAITH SO VERY
I M P O RTA N T F O R E V E RY
BELIEVER?
After salvation, the Christian is as much
saved as they will every be. Salvation
should be followed by spiritual growth
and development. If you are a born again
believer, you don’t ever need to hear
another message on salvation for your

enefit. The importance of faith is clearly
seen throughout the scripture.
A. “The Just Shall Live by _________.”
Romans 1:17
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to
faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

The disciples of Jesus approached Him
and requested that He would teach them
about faith and how to increase their faith.

On this occasion as on another specific
occasion recorded in the Gospel of Mark,
Jesus gives instructions to the disciples on
the operation of faith. It is very obvious
that to become proficient in faith and any
other spiritual truth, instruction is
necessary. The letter to the young Pastor
Timothy from his mentor the Apostle Paul
encouraged him to diligently study the
Word of God so that he would understand
how to rightly divide, that is to make
proper application of, the Word in various
situations of life.

APPROACH TO OPERATING
IN FAITH IS IMPORTANT
O p e r a t i n g i n f a i t h h a s b e e n
misunderstood. Some have attempted to
operate in “faith” without a scriptural
foundation for their actions. Many
inappropriate actions and mistakes were
blamed on walking by faith. This lesson
will be founded upon What the Word of
God says. In the midst of critics teaching
against operating in the God-kind of faith,
it is imperative that the Word of God be
accurately interpreted so that there will be

no mistake as to what the Bible teaches
about this most important subject.
A. Principles for Accurate Scriptural
Interpretation
The Bible teaches that there is no private
interpretation of scripture, which suggests
that there must be rules for proper
interpretation of scripture. The rules are
simple but must be respected for
consistency in extracting truths by which
to live.
1. First, scripture must be interpreted with
contextual accuracy. If the context is
talking about something natural, the
natural inferences cannot be ignored.

2. Second, any truth critical for my life
must be seen in both precept and
example. Precept is the principle explained
and example is a situation portraying the
principle.
3. Finally, any principle important to the
believer’s life should be seen in two
references.
