we are doing as a company has
an impact on people, the environment
and the climate. That is
why we at HALFAR® ensure that
we make our products and processes
ever more sustainable.
BSCI for better working
conditions
HALFAR® is a voluntary member
of BSCI (Business Social Compliance
Initiative) and complies with
the BSCI code of practice. Its aim:
clearly defined social and environmental
standards, with which
working conditions are improved
in a global economy and where we
work together in combating child
labour.
Environmental enterprise
In 2015, we received the PSI Sustainability
Award for our initiatives
in the environment category. Just
before that, we were certified by
Ökoprofit, an initiative of the state
of NRW. We are proud that we will
be working completely CO 2
-free
in Bielefeld, starting in 2017.
That’s because we cover a large
part of our energy needs with our
photovoltaic plant and our stateof-the-art
pellet heating system.
If we need more power than we
can produce ourselves from solar
energy, we exclusively purchase
additional green power only. This
way we make out virtually without
using any fossil fuels. In addition,
the usage of low-solvent inks in
digital printing are examples of
how careful we are with handling
raw materials.
Our employees are also personally
dedicated: with the Job-Bike project
that HALFAR® uses to promote
biking to work, or the new rooftop
garden they planted themselves.
Wir sind uns bewusst: Alles, was
wir als Unternehmen tun, hat
einen Einfluss auf die Menschen,
auf die Umwelt und das Klima.
Darum setzen wir bei HALFAR®
uns dafür ein, unsere Produkte
und Prozesse immer nachhaltiger
zu gestalten.
BSCI für bessere
Arbeitsbedingungen
HALFAR® ist seit 2005 Mitglied in
der BSCI (Business Social Compliance
Initiative) und verpflichtet
sich auf den BSCI-Verhaltenskodex.
Sein Ziel: klar definierte Sozialund
Umweltstandards, mit denen
sich Arbeitsbedingungen in einer
globalisierten Wirtschaft verbessern
können und wir unter anderem
Ausbeutung und Kinderarbeit
gemeinsam entgegenwirken.
Unternehmen Umwelt
Für unsere Initiativen im Bereich
Umwelt haben wir 2015 den PSI
Sustainability Award erhalten. Und
bereits zuvor wurden wir durch
Ökoprofit, eine Maßnahme des
Landes NRW, zertifiziert. Wir sind
stolz darauf, ab 2017 in Bielefeld
komplett CO 2
neutral zu arbeiten.
Denn einen großen Teil unseres
Energiebedarfs decken wir mit
unserer Photovoltaik-Anlage und
unserer hochmodernen Pelletheizung.
Falls wir mehr Strom
benötigen als wir selbst mit Sonnenenergie
produzieren, kaufen
wir ausschließlich zertifizierten
Ökostrom hinzu. So kommen wir
ganz ohne die Nutzung fossiler
Brennstoffe aus. Zudem zeigt der
Einsatz lösungsmittelarmer Tinten
in der Digitaldruckerei, wie sensibel
wir mit Rohstoffen umgehen.
Auch unsere Mitarbeiterinnen und
Mitarbeiter setzen sich gerne persönlich
ein: etwa mit dem Projekt
Job-Bike, mit dem HALFAR® das
Radfahren zur Arbeit fördert, oder
mit der neuen Dachbegrünung,
selbst gepflanzt.
Tested materials
Not only in production processes
but in production itself - we are
always researching new ways to
achieve greater sustainability. It
starts with the question of what we
want to make our bags from. And
so for 2017 we have added organic
cotton as a new addition to our
product range.
Functional, ecologically sensible
and resource-friendly - all of our
materials must meet these criteria.
Thanks to our quality concept
“Tested Materials” we guarantee
performance and legal conformity
in accordance with EU directives
like LFGB and REACH. However, it
isn’t just low pollutant levels that
we focus on, design and functionality
also play a role when it comes
to sustainability. The more useful
and attractive a bag is in the eyes
of customers, the more often and
longer it will be used - making it
more sustainable.
PVC free bags
PVC is in many products today.
When we use it for our bags, we
exclusively add clean materials,
which are free of pollutants and
are marketable and safe to use as
stipulated by legislation. Nevertheless,
we keep looking for alternatives.
The use of artificial leather
or PU coated materials is also a
way to create a balance between
a strong, durable material and
the desired look. Our successful
RETRO range of bags or the PRIME
backpack manage without any PVC
whatsoever.
Tested Materials
Nicht nur in den Produktionsprozessen,
sondern auch bei unseren
Produkten selbst erforschen
wir immer neue Wege zu mehr
Nachhaltigkeit. Das beginnt bereits
bei der Frage, woraus wir unsere
Taschen fertigen. So haben wir
2017 Bio-Baumwolle ganz neu in
unser Sortiment aufgenommen.
Funktional, ökologisch sinnvoll und
ressourcenschonend – an diesen
Kriterien müssen sich all unsere
Materialien messen lassen. Durch
unser Qualitätskonzept „Tested
Materials“ gewährleisten wir ihre
Unbedenklichkeit und Rechtskonformität
nach EU-Richtlinien wie
LFGB und REACH. Doch nicht nur
die geringe Schadstoffbelastung
steht im Fokus, auch das Design
und die Funktionalität spielen beim
Thema Nachhaltigkeit eine Rolle.
Denn je nützlicher und je schöner
eine Tasche in den Augen des Kunden
ist, desto häufiger und länger
kommt sie zum Einsatz – und
desto nachhaltiger ist sie.
PVC-freie Taschen
PVC kommt heute in vielen Produkten
vor. Wenn wir es für unsere
Taschen verwenden, setzen wir
ausschließlich saubere Materialien
ein, die schadstoffarm sowie den
Gesetzen folgend verkehrsfähig
und anwendungssicher sind.
Trotzdem suchen wir auch nach
Alternativen. Der Einsatz von
Kunstleder oder PU-beschichteten
Materialien ist ein Weg, die
Balance zwischen einem stabilen,
langlebigen Material und der
gewünschten Optik zu schaffen. So
kommen etwa unsere erfolgreiche
RETRO-Taschenserie oder der
Rucksack PRIME ganz ohne PVC
aus.
