Additionally, our IT tools simplify our customers’ data and reporting
duties and, as a result, make their systems and processes leaner and
more powerful.
Through our long-standing experience in the take-back sector, we
have established local teams of experts throughout the countries in
which we operate. We ensure compliance directly in the 15 countries
that account for 75 per cent of the regulated market in Europe.
This also means that we can respond to special requests from
our customers very quickly – and many of them praise us for the
individual take-back solutions that we have put in place for them.
In Italy, for example, we work with one of the largest fast-food chains,
ensuring that defective kitchen appliancers are collected and replaced
whenever needed. As the restaurants operate 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, we have established a swift replacement process of
merely 30 minutes, regardless of whether the outlet is in a remote
location or a historic city centre.
Establishing successful solutions across borders
Given that we operate 35 individual take-back schemes across borders,
we can provide international solutions for even the most challenging
waste streams, such as batteries. Relatively small volumes of batteries
are collected per country at high cost, but the European network
we have built provides us with the critical mass needed to make this
activity work.
Our ability to manage both individual and complex requests
efficiently was the reason an international online retailer of
electronic products chose to work with us. The company has
a large market share in several European countries and found
it difficult to track its regulatory responsibilities in a constantly
changing legal environment. Landbell Group took over all of
the company’s compliance obligations, helping the retailer to
concentrate on its core business. In 2016, in Germany alone, we
organised the take-back of nearly 2.5 million kilograms of paper
and cardboard, as well as over 100,000 kilograms of plastics.
Three questions for Umberto Raiteri, Head of Take-Back Solutions
Why do your customers choose
Landbell Group?
Our knowledge and our experience
allow us to respond to special requests
very quickly. At Landbell Group,
customers get all the services they need
in-house, whether they are looking for
an international solution, additional
consulting or software solutions. We can
even cope with special emergencies:
during shipment, for example, one
of our customer’s containers went overboard
and printer cartridges spilled into
the sea. We reacted very quickly and
came up with an effective take-back
solution for our client. We collected
printer cartridges from beaches in
France, Ireland, Spain and the UK.
our customers, to whom we provide
high-quality services. I think this is due
to the stability of our teams, which helps
us keep and strengthen our expertise
over a long time. We are also open with
our customers and partners, and with
the authorities. This has earned us the
trust and respect of all stakeholders
in the industry. Thanks to our people
and skills, we are also unique. We have
established our operational excellence
since day one. Because of this excellence,
we are growing in scope and moving
into new products and countries all the
time. We are significant players in almost
every country we operate in and we have
established a strong base on which we
continue to build.
contributes to the reduction of waste
by keeping secondary raw materials
on the market for as long as possible
without a loss of quality. This has a
positive economic impact as it reduces
dependence on limited and therefore
expensive raw materials. We want
to help our customers reduce their
environmental impact and make them
less dependent on market fluctuations.
What’s more, we invest heavily in
quality. We only work with fully certified
recyclers who meet the recycling
recovery rates that allow us to put more
recyclable materials back into the system.
What achievements are you
particularly proud of?
Our customers trust us. We don’t take
risks or make compromises. We have
very long-standing relationships with
How does Landbell Group engineer
the circular economy?
Our mission is very clear: we want to
recycle and return valuable materials
into economic circulation. Take-back
