CIRCUIT NEWS
Regional Bar Mock Trial competition 2017/18
On Saturday 4th November, Minshull Street Crown Court hosted
the regional heat of the bar Mock Trial Compeition 2017-18.
The winning team was Wilmslow High who are through to the
final for the fifth year in a row. The student participators, and
next generation of barristers, were;
Barristers: Amelia McDonald, Emily Short, Evie Smith, Lauren
Phillips, Charlie Keller
Witnesses: Ella Sankey, Sophie Lawlor, Caitlin Medcalf, Oliver
Warner, Juliet Cook, Charlie Keller
Ushers/Clerks: Oliver Warner, Callan O’Brian, Abi Gallop
They were mentored by their teacher Deborah Roussak and Huw
Edwards of Exchange Chambers
The Regional Co-ordinator for the event was Sally Penni who
thanked the Judges HHJ Steiger QC, HHJ Nicholls, John
Broadley, Louise Brabdon and Simeon Evans and all the
barristers, the new court manager, Beverley Harrison, her team
of volunteer ushers and the security staff at Minshull Street
Crown Court.
The schools are indebted to the volunteers from the Bar and the
judiciary who give their time to mentor the students and if you

Northern Circuit Golf
The annual match between the Bar and Bench representing
Manchester

Liverpool & Preston
to contest
The Sir William Morris Trophy
will take place at Wilmslow Golf Club on Sunday, 21st January
2018
The format will be stableford with the best 3 scores from
Manchester and Liverpool & Preston counting.
The Carlisle Cup will be presented to the best individual score
The Graham Morris Putter to the runner up.
All members of the Northern Circuit having a handicap are
welcome.
Annual Northern Circuit
Rugby and Hockey Weekend
The Northern Circuit will be hosting the Irish Bar
for the annual rugby and hockey fixtures the
weekend of 5 May 2018.
