Christmas & New Year are approaching once again and
Bequia is getting ready to give you the best holiday you ever
had! Delicious special menus, lots of day and night-time
activities plus a wide choice of musical entertainment are all
on offer to make your celebrations truly memorable. Many
of our advertisers have wisely chosen to give details of their
Holiday events in this issue, so you can plan ahead.
For your Christmas shopping, Bequia has much to offer.
Most stores will be open till the end of the day on Christmas
Eve - see facing page for more details. However, Bequia's only
bank, the Bank of SVG, will close at 4pm Friday 22nd and not
re-open until Wed 27th. It will be extremely crowded in the
run-up to Christmas week, so be sensible and don't leave it
to the last minute to change money or to make withdrawals!
Christmas Day (Monday 25th) and Boxing Day (Tuesday
26th) are Public Holidays, but most boutiques and grocery
stores will be open for at least part of the day on Boxing Day.

Looking ahead to the 31st, New Year’s Eve (known in
Bequia as “Old Year’s Night”), and the arrival of the New
Year is celebrated as enthusiastically here as anywhere in

Holiday Bank Opening Times
Please note that the Bank of SVG (Back Street
opposite pharmacy) will close at 4pm on Friday 22nd
December. It will not re-open until Wednesday 27th at
8am.You are advised not to leave your banking till the
last minute as the bank gets very busy a this time.
The ATM at BoSVG should be in operation throughout
the holiday period, although supply cannot be
guaranteed. You have been warned!!
Christmas Church Services
Many restaurants offer special festive dinners, sometimes
with two sittings so you can choose where you want to
be when midnight strikes. Just remember to reserve early
though as places fill up very fast!
Bequia’s spectacular New Year's Eve Fireworks display
- made possible only through the generosity of Bequia businesses
and private individuals - will burst over the harbour
on the stroke of midnight and will be visible from most
waterfront locations. If you would like to join our donors
and make a contribution towards the annual cost of Bequia's
fireworks, donations can be left at the Bequia Tourism Office.
Even the smallest contribution will go a long way and will be
very much appreciated!

Yacht Garbage Disposal
Ashore, there is only one place to dispose of yacht garbage – the skips located off the Fish Market Jetty
next to the Vegetable Market. These are reserved exclusively for yachties’ use.
Alternatively, yacht garbage may be delivered “at sea” to Daffodil Marine or other reliable water taxis;
charge usually $3.00 to $5.00 per bag. Dumping in unauthorized places is a prosecutable offence.
