Police Reports<br />
Pair caught stealing clothing, returning it to get store credit<br />
Valerie A. Wojtecki, 31,<br />
of Lynne Avenue in Romeoville,<br />
and Cezanne R. Torres,<br />
30, of Nutwood Court<br />
in Bolingbrook, each were<br />
charged with felony retail<br />
theft after Wojtecki allegedly<br />
stole items from a clothing<br />
store on 191st Street in<br />
Tinley Park and Torres returned<br />
them for store credit.<br />
The total amount of<br />
store credit redeemed was<br />
$149.91. Felony charges<br />
were approved as the result<br />
of prior convictions.<br />
Dec. 19<br />
• A fraudulent check reportedly<br />
was deposited digitally<br />
Nov. 19 at a bank on Harlem<br />
Avenue in Tinley Park.<br />
On Nov. 21, the cash value<br />
of the fraudulent check,<br />
$1,956, reportedly was withdrawn<br />
by an unknown subject<br />
at a currency exchange<br />
in Dalton. Despite the bank’s<br />
reported attempts to stop the<br />
transaction, the funds were<br />
withdrawn Nov. 29.<br />
Dec. 18<br />
• Amanda M. Wisz, 34, of<br />
Latrobe Avenue in Oak Forest,<br />
was charged with felony<br />
retail theft after she allegedly<br />
stole seven items from<br />
a department store in the<br />
7300 block of 191st Street<br />
in Tinley Park. She reportedly<br />
possessed but did not<br />
pay for two cans of formula,<br />
two coloring kits, a frozen<br />
pizza, a children’s doll and<br />
a children’s dress, the total<br />
retail value of which was<br />
$91.22. Felony charges were<br />
approved as the result of a<br />
prior conviction for theft.<br />
Dec. 17<br />
• A cellphone valued at $800<br />
was stolen from the Sam’s<br />
Club parking lot on Harlem<br />
Avenue in Tinley Park Dec.<br />
16. The alleged victim went<br />
to Sam’s Club, and his wife<br />
called his Samsung Galaxy<br />
S7 Edge cellphone, at which<br />
time an unidentified male<br />
subject answered. The subject<br />
reportedly told the victim’s<br />
wife that he discovered<br />
the phone in the parking lot<br />
and requested a reward for<br />
returning the phone. The<br />
alleged victim told police<br />
he spoke with the subject<br />
three times Dec. 16, and<br />
they agreed to a $50 reward.<br />
Later, the subject called to<br />
say that $50 would not be<br />
enough to return the phone.<br />
No further communication<br />
was reported.<br />
Dec. 16<br />
• Megan M. Funk, 25, of<br />
Lake Bluff Drive in Tinley<br />
Park, was charged with<br />
misdemeanor retail theft after<br />
she allegedly stole merchandise<br />
valued at a total of<br />
$500.15 from a convenience<br />
store in the 16700 block of<br />
Harlem Avenue in Tinley<br />
Park. Funk reportedly concealed<br />
numerous cosmetics<br />
within her purse before paying<br />
for some items and exiting<br />
and setting off the security<br />
alarm.<br />
• A white Mercedes-Benz<br />
parked in a residence driveway<br />
on 67th Court in Tinley<br />
Park reportedly was damaged<br />
at some point between<br />
6 p.m. Dec. 15 and 10 a.m.<br />
Dec. 16. The alleged victim’s<br />
daughter discovered a<br />
hole approximately 12 inches<br />
long and oval in shape in<br />
the sunroof.<br />
• The back door of an apartment<br />
building and a unit<br />
door within the building on<br />
Jean Lane in Tinley Park reportedly<br />
were forced open<br />
at some point between 6:30<br />
a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Dec.<br />
15. Approximately $30 in<br />
change was stolen.<br />
Dec. 15<br />
• A resident of an apartment<br />
on 175th Street in Tinley<br />
Park reportedly returned to<br />
his apartment building to<br />
discover an unknown subject<br />
attempting to enter the<br />
alleged victim’s unit by prying<br />
the deadbolt lock open.<br />
Dec. 13<br />
• At some point between 6<br />
a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13,<br />
an unknown subject reportedly<br />
forced his or her way<br />
into an apartment on Paxton<br />
Avenue in Tinley Park, rummaging<br />
through property<br />
contained in the bedroom.<br />
No items were taken. Police<br />
discovered the apartment’s<br />
deadbolt was damaged.<br />
• Tiasia P. S. Smith, 20, of<br />
Chicago, was charged with<br />
theft after refunding cigarettes<br />
with no customers<br />
present while working at a<br />
gas station on 183rd Street<br />
in Tinley Park.<br />
