END OF AN ERA
As of this moment, the admin re-shuffle from Scotland to France is now officially complete.
I wanted to take this moment in time to congratulate and show thanks publicly to some people who deserve such praise.
First of all, MKW has taken head red admin of VFL France, along with the promoted JoonaIceman who has shown consistency,
hard-working tendencies, and overall commitment to this website every since he was a blue, and ever since he entered
France. I want to congratulate Joona on the promotion to red as he is an integral part of our team on this site, and has
earned his stripes in that respect. I hope that he enjoys having the official colours, but also continues to strive towards the
quality he's shown as a blue.
itsRockeR has also taken flight to Italy to shadow Suitable ahead of Suitable taking a 1 season break in S32, meaning that
Rocker will now be acting as co-head in Italy for a season, and then head as of S32.
Lastly and most importantly, I'd like to thank BenA3394 . Ben has stepped away from the main admin role he has had for the
past 3 years and is now just doing the odd bits and bobs around the site. The guy has been a tremendous support structure for
myself, an incredibly hard worker for VFL, and the best red that this site has ever seen period. Whether it was during University,
during working life, he always had a place for VFL and the jobs he had to do on here, and that's because like many of you,
he has had memories on this site, and met people on this site that he truly will always hold dear to him.
The guy wants to bow out, and he deserves to. Through events like his first year in admin on FIFA 14, through events like the
DDoS, through everything, he's always been a person that has been honest with me, helpful in making decisions, and a guy that
has done everything he possibly can do for all of you. He is a friend, an honest guy that has an opinion, and one that I have unlimited
amounts of thanks towards and he knows that. Regardless of whether we bounced off each other, we always did it
because we are both so passionate about this site and community due to the impact it's had on us.
I hope one day he'll make a grand return, but if not, just know that he'll be around, sorting stuff like European Co-efficients,
Premium stuff and other less taxing jobs. Thank you Ben, honestly, without you mate, some periods of time would have been
extremely difficult for me to juggle on my own. Love you buddy.
Now that is done, I hope you're all as excited as I am for the continuation of VFL on the 12th, but I also hope all of you enjoy
your Christmas and New Year with family and friends. 2017 (towards the back end) has been a bit daunting, but it can only
pick up.
Have a good one fellas.
HOW TO
minimize lag during a vfl game
When you're playing FIFA online, there are usually two major problems you may experience: bad lag and poor performance.
If you play lots of games online, you've likely experienced problems with lag and high ping. Data takes
time to travel from your console to the game server and back, and this results in lag. There's not a whole lot
you can do to improve your lag if you're connecting to far away servers, but you can still optimize your network
for the best gaming experience.
1
Close any network-hogging programs on your computer. Before playing your online game, make sure any
bandwidth-chugging programs are closed. Torrents, streaming music, and open browsers can all have a
big impact on your in-game lag. Close these programs before starting your game. Look in the System Tray
for programs that may be running in the background.[1]
2
Connect your game console to your router via Ethernet. If your video game console is connected to your
network wirelessly, you may experience worse performance in-game. If your network setup allows it, try
to run an Ethernet cable from your console’s Ethernet port to an open LAN port on your router.
You may need to select the wired connection if you are already connected wirelessly.

TIPS FOR NEW MANAGERS
Don’t oversell yourself
If you have a trialling thread that says “going for title” then you put pressure on yourself and an expectation from trialists that
you will be perfect before you start. Be reasonable, I always found it useful to say in the thread that you’d love to go up but the
main key is to find the right players and build a team
Have a plan for formation
Don’t just recruit anyone who applies, set yourself a plan on at least 1 or 2 formations you want, what position(s) you need and
look to recruit for them, that way you build your side and not build a collective of strikers who don’t want to play DM etc
If you have 6 strikers and 2 spots and ask ppl to play somewhere they dont want to, chances are they will say no, thats your fault
not theirs. Most people may help out for a game or two but they joined you for a reason and it's unlikely that rason was to play
out of position
Use Skype
Might sound daft to say this but Skype or some form of group messaging will save you and your team. This is to be used to general
conversation sure but ultimately it’s used for people to discuss games, keeps all information in 1 place and makes managing so
much eaiser.
Encourage your players to have skype also, they dont have to be massively active but i would suggest they check at least once a
day for info on upcoming games etc.
Picking the team
This one is important, in your Skype/Messaging group put a roll-call out for the upcoming game/weekend.
you do this BEFORE the day, so if the games start Friday put in the group on WEDNESDAY a roll call
Do not assume that people are always free, if you assume this you will default games
I find it best to say “Friday 7pm start League game” and then ask who is free: you can also ask via your loungue and/or Skype
for availability for the entire upcoming weekend, then the players confirm if free, you list them and keep updating that list when
players say free,
