BEQUIA NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS 2017/18
We would like to thank all individuals and businesses who have generously contributed to our superb New Year’s Eve fireworks
display for 2017/18 and who are listed below. We are delighted to confirm that our target has now almost been met.
Let me also thank all those who gave their time so freely to assist with the show and its preparation. New blood is essential;
we were delighted to welcome new volunteers to our set-up team this year, but we are still seeking more help on our Committee.
Following the show, the response from all walks of life in Bequia has been one of universal delight with “best show ever!” being
the unanimous verdict. I would like to give especial thanks to our own “Bang Gang”, whose lengthy and meticulous planning, as
well as their hard work on the night ensured that once again, our New Year’s Eve show brought excitement, delight and wonder to
all who witnessed it - not least our visiting yacht folk from around the world.
We look forward to the continued support of all our donors, especially Bequia's waterfront businesses for whom tourism - and
yacht tourism in particular - is so vital. New donors are equally important in sustaining the event, and we hope to welcome many
more on board for the coming year.
Total costs for this year were around EC$20,000, and this will be our target for next year. Contributions for 2018/19 are welcome at
any time, in fact the earlier the better! Cheques, made payable to Bequia NYE Celebration, can be sent to our Committee Secretary
at Box 128BQ, Bequia, dropped off at the Bequia Tourism Office, or left at the Frangipani for my personal attention.
Remember, our annual display belongs to all of us in Bequia, and all who love Bequia. And all of us must ensure that it continues.
After all, what would New Year's Eve in Bequia be without our wonderful fireworks?
