A group in a white Toyota Corolla had been involved in robbing commuters from the airport for the past few months by pretending to be police officials, Station House Officer (SHO) Ali Hassan told reporters. When a police party intercepted them on Saturday morning, they attempted to escape in a rickshaw being driven by a certain Abdul Rauf, who was accompanied by his friend Maqsood. Rauf, Maqsood and two allegedly fleeing robbers were injured in the crossfire while one suspected robber managed to escape. In its response to home department’s letter seeking that the judicial inquiry into the murder of Intezar, who was shot dead by Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) personnel on January 14, be headed by a high court judge, the SHC said that a Sessions Judge was fully authorized to conduct the inquiry into the same offence. “As per policy made in 2005, the Sessions Judge can carry out the judicial inquiry or nominate the Additional Sessions Judge for this purpose,” the reply added. The high court asked the home department to approach the relevant Sessions Judge in this regard. the arrested suspects had been involved in robberies in Bahadurabad and New Town areas yesterday and one of their victims has identified one of the injured robbers. Sialvi warns to shut Punjab if Sharia not imposed in 7 days LAHORE: Cleric Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi has warned Government of Punjab on Saturday to impose sharia law within a period of seven days lest the religious groups would shut down the entire province. Sialvi, who is leading a sit-in protest of thousands of people outside rushy shrine of Data Gunj Bukhsh in Lahore has demanded the government to impose the sharia law.
