thing that I did.
My past is who I am.
So, it’s pretty hard today
to look and say, ‘I would
change this.’ I wouldn’t
change anything. I’ve been
very fortunate. I have an
incredible husband; he was
the managing partner of the
firm. We raised our children
together. We are great partners
in life.
Our children are individuals
who not only succeeded
in the sense of how society
defines success, but I
think the nicest thing I can
say — the best thing I can
say — is that they’re very
nice people, and they’re
very caring people and
they care about others. My
daughter and her husband
are teaching their children
the same thing.
You have talents, you
exploit those talents. You
don’t take those talents for
granted. You work hard.
You’re kind to others. You
need to be generous. You
need to have interests beyond;
I think that’s something
I always have and say
to young women. Have diverse
interests, not just your
work.
It’s really important
that you have community,
whether it’s your church —
we’re very involved in the
arts. It’s important to speak
up and be aware of politics.
That makes you who you
are. No, I don’t think I’d
look back and say I’d do
anything differently. There
aren’t any lessons that I’d
say, ‘Oh, I wish …’ because
each step that I stumbled
made me stronger.
