<strong>SummerPrep</strong> offers students<br />

enriching and creative classes – and<br />

an opportunity to learn new skills<br />

or build on existing talents. We<br />

foster discovery and exploration,<br />

and encourage students to enjoy<br />

themselves in a safe, supportive<br />

environment.<br />

Our classes are small, so each child<br />

receives one-on-one instruction and<br />

personalized assistance. There are<br />

many classes from which to choose,<br />

so your child can look forward to<br />

fun and exciting experiences at<br />

<strong>SummerPrep</strong>. Make it a summer your<br />

child will remember for a lifetime!

Classes are offered during both three-week sessions, unless otherwise noted in<br />

course description. Sessions are not sequential.<br />

Students may not have a gap in their schedule – there are no “free” periods<br />

allowed during the day. <strong>SummerPrep</strong> campers arriving before 1st period may<br />

join Before Care. Once afternoon camps have ended, students may come to<br />

After Care. A daily snack will be served in the late afternoon.<br />

Please sign up in advance for Extended Care (i.e. Before Care and/or After<br />

Care) for one or more weeks at a time. Payment is due at the start of the week:<br />

$10 per week for Before Care and $25 per week for After Care. After Care<br />

ends promptly at 5:45 p.m., and there will be a late pickup fee ($1 per minute).

Lunch is available for purchase during <strong>SummerPrep</strong>. You can open a lunch account<br />

through Sandia Prep’s Business Office by contacting Ann Dee Gonzales, Food<br />

will be made available for sale during lunch and morning break.<br />

Dismissal from <strong>SummerPrep</strong><br />

Students are expected to behave according to well-accepted principles of<br />

behavior. <strong>SummerPrep</strong> has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to bullying. The<br />

<strong>SummerPrep</strong> Director reserves the right to dismiss any student at any time. Refunds<br />

will not be granted should a child be dismissed from <strong>SummerPrep</strong>.<br />

Extended Care<br />

The regular day at <strong>SummerPrep</strong> begins at 8:10<br />

a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. Before Care and After<br />

Care, which are available for an additional cost,<br />

will extend the student’s day from as early as 7:30<br />

a.m. until as late as 5:45 p.m. Before Care helps<br />

students get settled in the morning and ready for<br />

their classes. If your student needs to extend the<br />

day after the Afternoon Camp concludes, you may<br />

sign up for After Care, which includes an afternoon<br />

snack. The After Care program will have separate<br />

areas for students to participate in games and<br />

activities. All students must be picked up by 5:45<br />

p.m. If parents are late to pick up students, an<br />

additional late pickup fee will apply ($1 per minute<br />

after 5:45 p.m.). Prices are for one full week; prorating<br />

Summer is a time to have fun, be creative, make<br />

new friends, and discover new things! You will<br />

discover the world through your senses and<br />

All this, plus reading stories and spending time<br />

Building Mathematical Minds<br />

It’s important to be challenged, have fun, and feel<br />

successful in mathematics, especially during<br />

the early years of developing the mathematical<br />

mind. Come and explore patterns, geometry,<br />

statistics, measurement, data, and many types of<br />

numbers. You will not only learn problem-solving<br />

strategies but also how to recognize any math<br />

misconceptions, all while having a great time.<br />

Flamenco singing (cante) and its relationship to<br />

to participate. Everyone from the oldest to the<br />

youngest has their way of expressing themselves,<br />

as long as everyone knows the ground rules of the<br />

Choreography<br />

This is an opportunity to turn your ideas and<br />

opinions into movement! You don’t need any<br />

dance background to be part of this collaborative<br />

process. In small groups, we will all have the<br />

pressure of a perfect finished product, just a<br />

chance to experience how our bodies have a way<br />

of saying what can’t be expressed through words.<br />

Theater Tech<br />

Explore the variety of methods involved in<br />

bringing a theatrical production to life. Learn<br />

how to follow design plans to paint large-scale<br />

scenery and acquire faux painting techniques.<br />

You will also explore prop-making, using various<br />

sculptural materials and creative problem-solving<br />

skills. Several guest speakers will give you a crash<br />

course in technical theater, including lighting,<br />

safety, and puppetry. You will also have the option<br />

of volunteering as crew for <strong>SummerPrep</strong> shows to<br />

learn more about the behind-the-scenes activities<br />

that make up a real theater production.<br />
