Jagged and dipped.<br />
“Son," said Dad, “do you need a wee?”<br />
“No, Dad, no,” said he.
Kiro fidgeted and danced,<br />
under Mum’s gaze he pranced.<br />
“Time to go,” said she.<br />
“Son,” said Dad.<br />
"Do you need to pee?”<br />
“No, Dad, no,” said he.
“Okay,” said Dad. “Helmets on.”<br />

“Too late son,” said he.<br />

“Earth,” said Mum. “And dark, no sun."<br />
“Ahem,” said Kiro as <strong>the</strong> wee dra<strong>in</strong>ed away.<br />
“What are we here for, I know you did say?"<br />

“Chucks,” said Dad.<br />

Kiro asked, “What just occurred?”<br />
The hen stared back, not utter<strong>in</strong>g a word.
And <strong>the</strong>n Kiro saw,<br />
pok<strong>in</strong>g out through <strong>the</strong> straw,<br />
a p<strong>in</strong>ky, orangey, browney th<strong>in</strong>g...<br />
"Was that what had made <strong>the</strong> chicken s<strong>in</strong>g?"<br />
“What is it, Dad?<br />

“<strong>That</strong>, son, is an egg.<br />
To get one for brekkie, I’ve got to beg.”

Did you see where it comes from?”<br />
“I did, yes, but <strong>the</strong>y are quite yum.”<br />
Kiro looked on <strong>in</strong> disgust,<br />
while his mo<strong>the</strong>r checked <strong>the</strong><br />
tractor outside for rust.
“This egg, it’s a bit bizarre,<br />
expla<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> concept to me, papa.”<br />
“Eggs are laid by lots of th<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
and many Layers have w<strong>in</strong>gs...

So,d<strong>in</strong>osaurs, reptiles, birds, fish and <strong>in</strong>sects,<br />
from eggs come <strong>the</strong>ir nippers...”<br />
Dad said, stepp<strong>in</strong>g back from <strong>the</strong> coop<br />
and land<strong>in</strong>g head-first <strong>in</strong> a pile of poop.
"Aye up, st<strong>in</strong>ky," said Mum, look<strong>in</strong>g around.<br />
“It’s time to do one.”<br />
Kiro frowned.<br />
“I need to know more,” said Kiro, sleepily.<br />
“And you will,” replied Dad. “Do you need a wee?”<br />
“No, dad, no,” said he.<br />

And, <strong>in</strong> a flash, <strong>the</strong>y were gone.
The chicken looked around and about,<br />
<strong>the</strong> blue folk would be back, no doubt.<br />
With strange manners and head’s swimm<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> pee,<br />
It’d be <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g what next <strong>the</strong>y’d see.
When a vampire budgie’s not your th<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
or a spaniel that goes Buzz and P<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
Kiro and his parents felt it right<br />
to come to Earth to see th<strong>in</strong>gs that go<br />
CLUCK<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> night.<br />
