Jewish New Year
Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. The celebration, usually in September, begins
at sundown and finishes at the sundown of the following day. The Jews drink wine
and eat challah (an egg bread) as they recite a blessing called Kiddush. During ten days,
between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, they pray for forgiveness for their past year's
sins, so that they can become better people in the new year.
