ENGINA FPSO ARRIVES IN LAGOS
FOR TOPSIDES
The Egina FPSO, the world's largest FPSO
being built by Samsung Heavy Industries
(SHI), arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, in January
from SHI's Geoje Shipyard, where top sides
and modules will be installed. The unit is
due for completion later this year.
SHI won the turnkey order for
engineering, procurement, and
construction, installation, and
commissioning for Egina FPSO back in
2013, worth around 3.0 billion USD which
recorded as the largest contract.
The gigantic FPSO, to be installed in the
Egina offshore field 200km from Nigerian
shore, is 330m in length, 61m in breadth,
and 34m in depth with storage capacity of
2.3 million barrels of oil and topsides weighing 60,000 tons.
SHI established the production facilities in Lagos in 2015 across 120,000m2 area, providing the country
with a competitive edge in future large offshore projects in Nigeria and West Africa.
SHI said: "We have taken thorough preparations to meet the Nigerian local contents, leading to planned
control in both construction and cost management." He explained "With keen interaction with the owner for
total safety and quality management, the remaining work for the Egina FPSO would be completed successfully."
Neptun Werft has handed over its second LNG tanker, Coral Energice, to the Dutch owner Anthony Veder.
The 163.86m, 18,000m3 capacity LNG carrier is the second gas tanker to be equipped with an
environmentally friendly dual fuel engine and the first time that Neptun Werft has installed auxiliary engines
