Explorer Day Camp available
before start of school in August

Camp Manitoqua will host
an Explorer Day Camp for
District 157-C students as
an option for parents needing
childcare during the few
days that Lincoln-Way East
High School starts school
prior to District 157-C’s
start.
The camp is for students
entering grades K-8 and will
take place Aug. 13-17 from
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended
hours available for an
additional fee. District 157-
C has made special arrangements
with Camp Manitoqua
to offer an additional
day on Aug. 20 to District
157-C students only. To take
advantage of this extra day,
please call the District office
at (815) 469-5922 after Feb.
1, 2018 to receive a personal
code to use while registering
via Manitoqua’s online
registration program. Registration
will not be available
without this code.
Registration begins Feb.
1, 2018 and will be conducted
directly through Camp
Manitoqua. To register,
please complete the online
process at www.Manitoqua.
org. No registrations will be
District 157-C kindergarten
taken over the phone.
The camp is a great way
for campers to make new
friends and enjoy outdoor
recreation. All activities
are supervised by Manitoqua

Frankfort School District
157-C kindergarten
registration will be held on
March 5, 2018 from 8:30
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on
March 6, 2018 from 3:30
p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Registration
will be held in the
small gymnasium at Grand
Prairie Elementary School,
10480 W. Nebraska Street
in Frankfort. Parents will
need to provide required
documentation before registration
and payment can be
completed online.
All children who will be
five years of age on or before
Sept. 1, 2018 are eligible for
entry into kindergarten in
the fall. District 157-C administrators
ask parents to
please make arrangements
to register if they have a
child who qualifies for kindergarten.
The information
gathered from kindergarten
registration provides
the administration with the
data required to plan for the
upcoming school year. Registration
numbers are used
to determine class sizes
and the number of required
kindergarten sections. Administrators
also ask parents
to share this registration
information with any
families they know within
our school district who will
have kindergarten age children
and do not receive the
school’s newsletters.
District 157-C staff
members will conduct kindergarten
registration and
there will be a “Meet the
Principals” station. There
will also be representatives
from the Family School
Partnership (FSP) organization
with school supply lists
and information on the purchase
of Spirit Wear. The
school nurses will provide
information about school
physicals, forms and information
about medication,
504 plans and health plans.
A representative will also
be available to answer bus
questions.
For kindergarten registration,
a legal birth certificate
is required. A legal
birth certificate is available
from the county clerk in the
county where the child was
born. In addition, parents
must provide three pieces
of evidence verifying residency:
one primary proof
and two secondary proofs
of residency. Articles that
will be accepted as primary
proof of residency include
the most recent real estate
tax bill, a signed lease, or
a closing statement for the
purchase of said property.
Articles that will be accepted
as the secondary proofs
of residency may include
a driver’s license, a gas,
telephone or electric bill, a
Public Aid card, a voter registration
card or an application
for a voter registration
card, a home/apartment insurance
certificate or a State
of Illinois automobile registration.
Proofs of residency
from an older sibling’s
cumulative folder will not
be accepted as the state requires
current dates.
Other important dates
for incoming kindergarten
students include “Kindergarten
Round Up” on
March 1, from 1:15 to 2
p.m., and “Kindergarten
Here We Come” on April
3, May 1 and May 22 at
1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and
at 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at
Grand Prairie Elementary
School, 10480 West Nebraska
in Frankfort. These
events allow parents and
children an opportunity to
come into Grand Prairie
for possibly the first time
and hear from the staff and
the teachers. The children
experience activities with
teachers at each event,
while the parents hear pertinent
information to help
them prepare for next year.
Parents can attend each of
these programs since staff
will be covering a different
topic each day.
