High end speakers for cars should play loud, handle
plenty of power and provide smooth frequency
response with minimum distortion. Audiofrog speakers
include a host of distortion reducing features and the
designs are thoroughly tested to ensure that each
speaker will handle 100 watts RMS and 300 watts peak.
Don’t let the refined look fool you. These speakers are
designed to expose musical details you’ve never heard
at any output level.
With unmatched fit and finish, innovative installation kits
designed to integrate into modern and classic vehicle
interiors and performance that rivals high-end models
from the most esoteric audio brands, GB Series tweeters
are available in two sizes for use in custom 2-way and
3-way systems. Both soft- dome models include distortion
reducing copper rings over the pole piece, neodymium
motors with ferrofluid cooling, and all metal
housings.
Great passive crossovers are precision circuits designed
to blend the sound of two speakers. At Audiofrog, a
one-size-fits-all approach just won’t do. The GB Series
includes five crossover models designed to perfectly
compliment nearly any Audiofrog speaker system. GB
Series crossovers include precision L-Pad tweeter adjustment
circuits, air core inductors, polypropylene capacitors,
and a high quality aluminum housing.
Finally, all Audiofrog speakers are thoroughly designed
and tested to withstand the rigors of the automotive
environment. We test for exposure to extreme heat and
cold, exposure to humidity and ultraviolet light and
vibration in a battery of tests designed to simulate
50,000 miles of operation in a moving car.
Flat Single-Layer CCAL Voice
Coils
All GB Series midrange and
midbass speakers include singlelayer
copper clad aluminum voice
coils constructed with milled flat
wire. Benefits include superior
power handling through improved
voice coil cooling, decreased
inductance for extended high
frequency response and the ability
to precisely set the motor strength
to balance sensitivity with
frequency response during the
design process.
Copper Polepiece Caps and
Shorting Rings
Changing inductance as the
voice coil moves back and forth in
the magnetic gap is a primary
cause of distortion in loudspeakers.
All GB Series speakers include a
copper cap on top of the polepiece
that acts as a self-regulating
distortion reducer by generating a
magnetic field that opposes the
changing coil inductance. The
benefit is crystal-clear performance
even at high output level. The
GB60 also includes an aluminum
shorting ring at the base of the
polepiece to further reduce
distortion at high excursion.
Bucking Magnets
The GB25 and GB40 include
inverted neodymium magnets
attached to the top of the polepiece
to focus the magnetic
energy in the gap. The benefit is
increased sensitivity so the output
matches that of the GB60 and the
tweeter to make tuning simpler.
System Specific Crossovers
One-size-fits-all crossovers simply
don’t work. They’re either
optimized for one system and
provide poor performance for
others or they aren’t optimized for
anything. The GB Series includes
passive networks specifically
designed for almost any 2-way
configuration. Proprietary L-Pad
tweeter attenuators provide
precise adjustment of the tweeter
level without changing the crossover
frequency or slope.
