Travellers will not be able to fly into Iguazu Airport
(IGR) on the Argentinean side for a month due to
runway renovation works.
BRIEFS'
Iguazu airport will be closed to air traffic from the
15th of April to the 15th of May in 2018.
Alternative landing areas have not been confirmed
yet and holiday goers should consider delaying their
visit or seeking other possible routes.
Travellers can continue to arrive in the Brazilian
side, Foz do Iguassu airport (IGU) if they are flying
from most main Brazilian cities. The popular land
crossing, with most travellers flying into one side of
the mesmerizing waterfalls, crossing the border and
flying out of the other countries’ airport and
continuing their journey will not be possible by air.
Bus journeys to Iguazu are possible within
Argentina, however the distances are considerable.
The bus road trip from Buenos Aires to Iguazu Falls
for example is approximately 17 hours.
PERU
NEW
ROUTES
FLIGHT
Travelling to Peru’s North is now even easier with the new flight routes
announced by LATAM.
Two new air routes will commence from July 2018 from Cuzco, the current
gateway to Machu Picchu.
A direct flight route from Cuzco to Iquitos will better connect travellers
wanting to experience the magnificence of Machu Picchu with the natural
beauty of the Peruvian Amazon.
Iquitos is the gateway city of the northern Peruvian amazon, a base to start a
boutique Amazon river cruise and home of unique species such as pink
dolphins, etc.
Previously, clients would need an overnight stopover in the country’s capital
Lima to connect between an Amazon tour and Machu Picchu program.
Now on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays they will be able to connect
onwards to the ancient Inca capital of Cuzco.
UPDATE
Additional flights from Cuzco to Trujillo, will also operate 3 times a week.
Trujillo is the starting point for many excursions to Chiclayo and the mystical
ruins of Chan Chan ruins, home of the ancient Moche civilisation.
VISA
BRAZIL
ONLINE
NOW
TRAVEL
It’s easier than ever for Australians to travel to Brazil with the new
online visa application process.
Australian travellers are required to obtain a visa for tourism and
business travel purposes even those under 90 days.
Traditionally, holiday goers had to part complete an application
form online, print this and send it with physical documentation and
evidence to the Brazilian Consul or Brazilian Embassy.
In a move designed to simplify and streamline the time consuming
process which could take up to 20 working days to fulfill.
Travellers could now receive a response electronically in as little as
72 hours.
GORGEOUS
GLAMPING
SOUTH AMERICA
STYLE
Move over camping, the concept of
glamping – that combines the idea of
getting you closer to the beauty that
nature has to offer with a more grown up
style and in comfortable digs has arrived.

HELLO POSH
OUTDOORS
Glamping (which is actually short for Glamorous camping) combines
sought-after destinations with the escape of camping and the
distinction of luxury travel. But if you think glamorous camping is
simply about having posh camping gear, from tents to sleeping bags to
outdoor equipment, think again. Glamping offers you the chance to
immerse yourself in a remote and unique place, perfect for discerning
travelers who like their adventure ‘soft.’

Glamorous camping in South America, especially, will give
discerning travellers like you access to camp resorts that boast
of world-class service and opulent accommodations. Here are
Waking up to gorgeous
Galapagos islands vistas
There’s nothing like waking up to the marvellous
Galapagos panorama to make you feel immersed
in your incredible destination.
And this means ensuring you have more than a
small porthole to catch a glimpse of your
surroundings in as you sail from different islands.
Larger viewing windows in your cruise cabin could
make your Galapagos islands tour that bit more
memorable. Some cruises may even have a small
For many travellers, a visit to Galapagos is a privilege in itself. But having a
space to repose, recharge after your days hiking and island explorations
can make a world of difference. Not all cruise vessels have a jacuzzi and
only those at the higher end of amenities scale will offer them, but if yours
does, why not take advantage of it?
CAMINO MAGAZINE 14

THE
FOR A GUARANTEED GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP
BEDS
Enjoying a well deserved slumber as
you explore Galapagos
Galapagos cruises are a great way to
explore Darwin’s archipelago but not
everyone is comfortable with the idea of
being on a smaller ship for so many days.
One reason is that for most of us, a great
night sleep is essential if we want to be
at our best for exploring. And sleeping
on a bunk style bed does not always
equate with a great night especially after
the long days spent on the islands.
Luckily, some of the more luxurious
vessels will have cabins with flat double
sized beds and some vessels like the
Seaman Journey and Galapagos Sea Star
even have orthopaedic beds to ensure
your recovery is as comfortable as
possible.
Seeing the Galapagos
underwater life crystal clear
Let’s face it, a chance to see the collection of
wacky wildlife that lives on the Galapagos
Islands is the major reason most travellers
make the journey. So how can you see more
wildlife?
Only a few (La Pinta) is one that offers glass
bottomed boats whilst on their daily
galapagos islands tour excursions. Which
means that you get even more wildlife
viewing before you even step on an island or
get in the water to snorkel.
THE MARINE LIFE IN GALAPAGOS IS ALMOST AS IF NOT
MORE IMPRESSIVE THAN THE WILDLIFE ON THE
GROUND.
