SEEK GOD’S GLORY: THROUGH OUR LOVE
Dear Friends,
It is wonderful to be able to reach you through this issue. Since this is a
National Day edition, we must humble ourselves and ask him; how do we
Seek God’s Glory within the context of our nation? Scriptures teach us
that all our relationships are important to God and we need to have His
agenda as the basis of our relationships; which will then surely bring Glory
to God.
By accepting one another within our nation
Romans 15:7 teaches us that we need to accept one other, just as God himself has accepted us.
God cannot be glorified in us if we choose to hate or reject others. If God can accept us and love
us even while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8), it would simply be arrogant and sinful for us to
think or act otherwise. It would be useful at this point to ask God to show us how and why we
have rejected certain people from our lives. Only God can help us to glorify Him by making us
mature enough to accept others without conditions.
By forgiving one another in our nation
Ephesians 4:32 teaches us that we need to forgive one another as God has forgiven us. The Bible
also warns us of God withholding forgiveness from those who refuse to forgive others (Matthew
6:15). Forgiving others is truly a difficult thing to do. In fact some people do not even want to
forgive themselves! Yet, it is so easy when we want to quickly seek forgiveness from God when
we have done wrong. Surely this is double standards; we want forgiveness but refuse to render
forgiveness. God can never be glorified through us if we secretly harbor such attitudes and wrong
precepts in our thinking.
By letting God to be the Judge of our nation
Very often people don’t accept each other or choose to forgive because of their hurts that have
caused them much pain. They wrongly think that by not accepting or forgiving those who hurt
them, they are getting even. However, the sad truth is; they are the ones who are continuing to
suffer from their festering wounds. The devil has actually deceived us to continue hurting in this
manner instead of receiving healing from God. We have chosen our own response rather than
choosing how God wants us to respond. Why? It is possible that we actually do not trust God to
be fair to us or our concerns. This too is a trap of deception that we fall into.
If we consciously humble ourselves by removing pride and are willing to let go of anything that
dishonors God, He will surely show us what it means to Glorify Him in our beloved nation,
Malaysia.
GOD BLESS YOU
Prayer Concerns
- Rev Dr A E Joseph was admitted in the hospital due to problems in his spine. Please pray
for a complete recovery.
- Bishop Ong and his wife are recovering from Denggi fever. President Jayakumar’s wife
and son are also recovering from Denggi fever.
- August is the month we celebrate our independence. We need to pray for our nation
especially for the upcoming General Election.
- In the month of September we will be having our local Conferences. It pains my heart
when I see leaders who do not pray or obey God’s word getting elected. How will they
be able to discern God’s will for their churches? Please begin regular prayers sessions in
your churches so that only God fearing people get elected into the LCEC, District and
Conference leadership.
It would be good if the pastors and leaders ensure that a copy of this letter could be enlarged
and printed out for the church notice board.
Thank You and God Bless You.
In His Grace,
Rev. Dennis Raj
THE BOOK OF TITUS
– MANUAL FOR CHANGE MANAGEMENT IN THE CHURCH
In Titus 1:5, Paul wrote to Titus that he had left him in the island of Crete
to ‘set in order’ that which was lacking among the members of the
church there. Paul then wrote this epistle to Titus, laying the
foundations of church management’
1. GETTING OUR CALLING RIGHT (Tit.1:1-4)
In the first 4 verses of chapter 1, Paul describes himself to Titus as :-
I. Servant of God (v.1)
A more closer translation may be ‘a slave’ of Jesus Christ! Paul had no identity or agenda of his
own but to do the will of God. He was to do what God wanted him to do. That was the mindset
of Paul.
II. Apostle of Jesus Christ (v.1)
An Apostle was one who went to places where nobody had preached the Gospel before – a
pioneer worker called to declare Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour through his words and
walk, and ‘plant a church’ among the saved people. Paul’s lifestyle evangelism!
III. Preacher of the Word (v.3)
The primary purpose of Paul’s ministry was to preach the Word. In serving God, one can be easily
preoccupied with many, not necessarily bad activities and forget the best – preaching the Word
of God for the salvation of the people. Preaching the Word was Paul’s commitment.
IV. A spiritual father (v.4)
Paul reached out to Titus with the heart of a father and not as a teacher or an elder. He did not
pull ranks or try to intimidate the young man. In all humility Paul appeals to Titus with a father’s
heart of love.
Through the above, Paul seems to impress his young recipient that he had got his calling right.
There is absolutely no use in engaging ourselves in activities for which we are not called by God.
Our skills and gifts of grace are very important but nothing significant can be done for the Lord,
outside His calling!
Indirectly, Paul is conveying to Titus that he too must get his calling right, to effectively bring
about a change in the lives of his church members. One cannot give what one does not have.
Change management begins inside the person who is trying to bring about a desired change!
TAC History Forum 2017
Today in History, Saturday 8 th April 2017, the Tamil
Annual Conference Board on Archive and History
(BOAH) with the help of Board of Laity organized
the first TAC History Forum 2017 at Emmanuel
Christian Assembly, Taiping with the theme,
‘Looking back to look forward’. A total of 210
people from the Northern and Perak Districts
including the speakers attended the forum and 40
from TMC Sg. Petani with the highest numbers of
participants. A short quiz was made available to
gauge how much the participants know about our
history.
The hosting church, TMC Taiping’s pastor, Ps.Tharmapal welcomed everyone and after an
opening song, Perak District Superintendent Rev. Sandireaseheran said the opening prayer. The
moderator for the forum, Mr. Peter Seeni who is also the Organizing Committee Chairman called
upon the BOAH Chairman, Mr. Steven Sekhar to give his opening message. Mr. Steven Sekhar
thanked God for the role of the BOAH. He shared that the History Forum is a platform for us to
review, understand and move forward in the mission and purpose God has for TAC in Malaysia.
Therefore, it is imperative that we understand our roots; the burden, passion and love our
forefathers had for the church and reflect where we are today and the direction we are heading.
He hoped the forum will enable us to listen and discern through the speakers the voice of God
and for all of us to be revived.
The 2nd session of the TAC History Forum 2017 for the remaining Central, Selangor, Southern
and Eastern Districts was held on Saturday, 20th May at Wesley Kuala Lumpur with exactly the
same theme and speakers. Mr. Guna David who is also the Organizing Committee Chairman
welcomed everyone and informed that the forum would be from 9.00am to 3.00pm. Thus, the
time given for each speaker had to be shortened but nevertheless the content would be similar
with the session in the Northern & Perak District forum. Without any delay the Eastern Dist.
Choir with Rev. Doraiseelan John was invited to start the session with a short Praise and Worship
session and the opening prayer.
The keynote address, entitled ‘Looking Back to
Look Forward’ was presented by Rev. Victor
Vethamani. He emphasized that only when we
look back in history, we will begin to understand
our present situation better and get a clearer
direction for the future. At the onset, Rev. Victor
informed that our Methodist Church in Malaysia
and conferences have adopted the American
system. He explained that based on the biblical
perspectives, God’s caution, command and the
6

aim of writing history becomes clear. It is to see what God has done and seek to give Him glory.
The reason why we should look back is because it helps to sharpen our vision. God in His time
and through His chosen servants takes the initiative to reach out to His people. These testimonies
help us to understand God’s design and intent. The first missionaries; Rev. James Thoburn and
Rev. William Oldham arrived in 1885 to Singapore and the first sermon preached was from
Zechariah 4:6, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord’.
There was much more information shared on the
following titles; The Early Commendable Endeavors, Role
of Retired Pastors & Pastor-Teachers, Role of foreign
missionaries and TAC since 1976; we see growth in
properties, MMM, Pastors, churches, Bible women,
Youth Camps & Young Adults.
From the 1950s the Tamil’s cry was to come apart to focus
on our own needs and to build. Today, as we move
forward, we have to seriously consider the coming
together of the churches, be united in ministry, as well as
being in partnership with the many new independent
churches which are existing for God’s Glory. History
should keep us informed about our roots and inspire us
to greater heights. We should be sensitive to the new instructions God gives and remember the
words of John Wesley, ‘The best is yet to be’, always working to bring greater glory to God.
Next Rev. John Kovilpillai took the floor, he started his sharing with the following words, ‘With
profound gratitude and thankfulness to God and great reverence to the respectful memory of
those who labored faithfully in the Malaysian Methodist, I share the mission of the TAC Missions
in Malaysia.’
Our history is always connected with the Malaya Annual Conference, mainly English speaking
Methodists. Besides forming local
congregations the Mission spread
overseas. Rev. S.S. Pakianathan
founded the Tamil periodical, ‘Light
of Salvation’ in 1934. Since we were
part of MAC with majority English
speaking members, the Tamils were
not able to fully participate in the day
to day affairs of the church and give
able leadership. Rev. V.A.Chelliah
was responsible for the gathering on 12 th December 1958 in KL to form the Tamil work
committee. In 1967, after a Nationwide Evangelistic Mission tour of the country at Port Dickson,
Dr. Samuel Kamaleson challenged the Tamils, “Who will preach the gospel to the Tamils, but the
Tamils”. Rev. John shared his own personal testimony and recalled the prayer meeting at P.D.
Beach which was very significant in the decision to form the TPAC. He recalled how he too could
7

not contain himself when he saw the
elderly pastors on their knees and in
tears. The young Provisional
Conference based itself to be ‘selfsupporting,
self-propagating and selfgoverning’
by trusting God. We have
come a long way now and the recent
survey and statistics speaks of our
growth and strength. We had an
interesting Q&A session after that. He
voiced his concern that the only way our TAC’s Mission is to be achieved is through Evangelism.
Thus, he challenged all Pastors, Leaders and churches to rise up to the call of Evangelism without
delay.
The next talk was on ‘Methodist Schools in Malaysia’ by Mr. S.Selvaraj. In the 19 th century
Christian missionaries were the pioneers of education in the then, Malaya. They served as
principals/ teachers and church pastors. Methodist mission schools saw their birth in the 1880s.
At present, we have 49 Methodist primary schools, 26 secondary schools and 6 private schools.
We also have 2 private colleges. He pointed out that our Methodist strategy is to produce ACE
students – which means Academic excellence, Character development and Extra-curricular
achievement. Apart from our private schools/ institutions, we have lost our distinctive Christian
ethos and character in our government aided schools. His session interestingly ended with some
thought provoking questions such as: 1. Home skills are neglect in schools – why? 2. Is it possible
for TAC to take control of our own Tamil schools? 3. What is the challenge the church faces? 4.
Why can’t the private education be brought into our students? 5. Many of our Methodist
members are ignorant of the Methodist Discipline – how are we to overcome this?
After a challenging talk on education, Mr. Goh Keat Seng shared on ‘Bringing Church History Back
to Life’. He described the difference between Church Archivist, a qualified person and Church
Historian, anyone can be appointed, no need for any qualification. Then we all stood up to sing
the song, ‘Find us Faithful’. History is ministry. History is a source of inspiration. History helps us
in understanding who we are. He gave a description of the responsibilities of a church historian.
Writing our church history is basically to tell the story of God at work in the life of our
congregation. The 3 fold purpose is to
gather and preserve the record of
faithful witnesses through the years,
to teach the members and friends of
the congregation for now and in the
future and to help our church to see its
ministry and mission as an ongoing
pilgrimage in maintaining the church
history and records.
Mr. Gopal Sundaram presented the
final talk on Methodist Heritage. He shared 7 points; we come from a heritage of a Holy Club, a
8

great cloud of witnesses which should ignite the
desire to obey and do God’s work and bring the
good news to our world today, a focus on
teaching and special needs, a methodical way
of doing things, an itinerant ministry,
connectional system and the local church
where ministry takes place. He stressed the all
Methodists should look into Para 71 in the
Methodist Discipline for further understanding.
Rev. Dennis Raj did the closing address on ‘Where do we go from here?’ He stressed that where
we are now and what we have has come about because of the past and what have we learnt.
What we do now will determine our future. In Judges 2 we read that a generation grew up who
did not know God. They forsook the Lord. Therefore, we must be careful. We can achieve the
numbers but lack the character. We will have glamorous events but shameful people. He shared
on 1 Cor. 3:8-9. The FUTURE is NOW! We must work hard and invest on our youngsters too. Our
future is in God’s hands. We must patch up all our shortcomings and weaknesses. Rev. Dennis
Raj invited and led us to make a commitment to do what the Lord says and to go where he points
and to whom he sends.
At the closing remark, the BOAH Chairman,
Mr. Steven Sekhar thanked all the speakers.
At the 2 nd session of the forum at Wesley
Kuala Lumpur eight hampers were given
out to the Quiz winners. The goal of
bringing the awareness of our TAC history
to the churches was achieved through this
forum. The program was beneficial to many as
they learnt a lot of new things. It was a blessing to
all those who attended. Praise be to GOD!
Dearly Beloved,
Grace and peace to you in the sweet name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The gifts God gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists,
some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body
of Christ, until all of us come to unity in trust and in knowing God’s Anointed One, to maturity, to
the measure of the full stature of Christ. Speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every
way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together
by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s
growth in building itself up in love. —Ephesians 4: 11-13, 15-16.
On 16th and 17th May, 19 of us
including the members of board on
ministry, probationary members,
missionary candidates and students
from Seminaries had participated in
Tamil Annual Conference
Probationary Minister’s Retreat
which was held at Emmanuel
Christian Assembly, Taiping. We
would like to take this opportunity to
say few words about this retreat. We
really enjoy being the attendees. This
retreat is about perseverance and going through trials in ministry which has really ministered to
all of us and comforted us as to why we, as workers for Christ, go through trials and why God
10

allows us to go through them, hence God
takes us into a deeper level of surrender.
Various topics were taught such as health
& wealth, personal life, spiritual life and
etc. God ministered to us using these topics
to be faithful and persevere in our calling
to serve Him. Devotions, testimonies and
sharing from the members of board on
ministry (President, Rev. Dennis, Rev.
Justin Clarence, Rev. D.B. Laurance, Rev.
James Ravindran, Rev. Samuel Periathamby and Rev. Sandireseharan) has deeply impacted our
lives. We believe it would continue to
catapult our walk of faith in Jesus Christ.
We are grateful to Rev. Simon Chandran
(the founder and pastor of Emmanuel
Christian Assembly) to witness his
obedience in God’s calling in his life in this
ministry. On the other hand, we had
meaningful time with our friends, a time
of fellowship that refreshed us. We had
the opportunity to celebrate the birthday
of our TAC president Rev. Dennis Raj on
the last day.
Lastly but not least, we want to thank everyone who had a hand in this Probationary Minister’s
Retreat. Some retreats are surface events, but this retreat goes deep to one’s heart and soul. In
Lord We Trust! Glory and Honor to Him!
Sincerely,
Retreat Attendees.
Lay Academy 2017
Module 1 – Ministry Foundations
Dates : 28-29 May 2017
Venue : Emmanuel Christian Assembly, Taiping
Participants : Male : 12 Female : 11 Total : 23
Lecturer : Rev. Dr. A.E. Joseph
Introduction
TAC started off with barely 3 local Pastors and a handful of teacher pastors from India, Sri Lanka
and the West. Seeing the need, TAC embarked on a concerted effort to recruit and train
ministers. The emphasis was Pastoral Ministry. The need arose as more churches and outreaches
were formed. Local Preachers and Supply Pastors were recruited.
The Lay Preachers Training Institute was started with the support of the Board on Laity and
continued till it was stopped in 2013. With Seminari Theologi Malaysia offering Theological
Education by Extension and later also in Tamil, the role of the LPTI needed to be reviewed.
The need was to have a holistic training module that not only concentrated on preaching but on
all the ministries of the church. In order to be effective, lay people in ministry need to be
nurtured by proper training programs. The Lay Academy hopes to emphasize Bible knowledge,
practical skills, theological understanding and spiritual growth.
Topic: Ministry Foundations
The first session of the Lay
Academy was held on 28-29
May 2017, on the topic of
Ministry Foundations. Rev.
Dr. AE. Joseph taught on the
fundamentals of Ministry.
He began on The Call to
Ministry: He stressed the
importance of Salvation- the
starting point in every
Christians life which then progresses to Sanctification- the process of being made holy, a
progressive growing in Christ. Finally he ended in Christian Service-the greatest honour anyone
can get to be set aside by the Holy Spirit for the work of God. The call begins with a burden or
compulsion to serve. It then grows into a desire to fulfil God’s will by surrendering your own will
to God. The evidence can be seen in the end result or the fruit.
The second part was on Spiritual Formation and Development. The need to grow and be
nourished by the Word of God was stressed. Wanting to grow, being nourished by the Word,
attending church and worship is important. Prayer, obedience, self-denial, fasting and holiness
are fundamental for spiritual formation.
12

The third part concentrated on the Identification and Utilization of Ministry Skills. There are
necessary skills in every area of life, be it sports or music or any other discipline. Knowing your
skills in teaching, preaching, leading in worship, conflict management, communicating and
delegating and being good in them will help in ministry.
The sessions were
lively and very educational. The shortcomings
included late publicity and distance. We apologize
and hope to do better next time. We are truly
thankful for the management of Emmanuel
Christian Assembly for their help and support. We
thank our President and Board Chairman for their
well wishes.
Reported by
Rev DB Laurence
Our Conference Lay Leader, Mr. S. Selvaraj was present during
the opening session and exhorted the participants to work
together with the Pastors. He reminded that much depended on
the Pulpit. “We can have our differences but unity must prevail
in the end.” He requested for other modules like Church
Management (LCEC) and Finance Management be included. He
also requested to have more sessions in the year to finish the
course faster.
Journey to becoming a PEACEMAKER
The experience of a lifetime which should have lasted 6 days but unfortunately
reduced to merely 3 days can only be summarized into one word. GRACE!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
It was truly an exhilarating moment when I
found out I was going to travel out of the
country for the very first time. The feeling
of having the Malaysian passport in hand
and knowing it was to be stamped for the
first time excited me beyond measures.
Being called to go for the Asian Young
Women’s Leadership Development
(AYWLD) Seminar in Vietnam was a
surprise that was indeed a blessing for me.
I have travelled many times, I have even
flew numerous times in and out of Borneo but flying out of the country with two other ladies.
I had merely met at the airport check-in was the first of many firsts.
Organised by the Wesley
Foundation of Japan in
collaboration with Scranton
Women’s Leadership Centre in
Korea, United Methodist
Women, General Board of
Global Ministry of the United
Methodist Church and Vietnam
Methodist Church, the AYWLD
Seminar was held on Feb 6 th -
10 th , 2017 in Ho Chi Minh,
Vietnam. A total of 40 women
participated in the seminar
comprising of 32 young women
from 10 Asian countries, 4 staff
and interns from Wesley
From left to right: Hannah Foo (TRAC),
Agatha Elpis (TAC) and Pastor Senorita Watt (SIAC)
Participating Countries: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia,
Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and
Vietnam
Foundation and Scranton Women’s Leadership Centre in Korea and 4 lecturers comprising of
pastors, missionaries and social workers from Korea, Japan, Philippines and Vietnam. The 3 of us
were representatives from our GCMW.
20

Themed “Be a Peace Maker”, the seminar kicked off in the afternoon on the 6 th of Feb, with an
opening worship service. Participants were asked to present a symbol of their respective
countries to the altar for the introduction and ice breaking session. At the end of the service,
each group presented peace blessings in their
own language. Although the group of 32
young women present there were diverse
and exclusive, each of us were mere followers
of Christ Jesus and it did not take long before
fellowship took place. Throughout the
seminar, we got to know each other, we
learned about diverse cultures and histories,
we prayed together, and we were growing in
passion for justice and peace in the world. As
followers of Christ, we were all reminded that
God calls each of us to be peace makers.
Symbols from various country.
We had community building exercises which were
team building exercises, workshops, group dynamic
activities, Bible studies, country sharing, games, site
visits and most of all lots and lots of fun and
memorable time together. Each session was insightful,
educational and motivating. The most important
topics we discussed revolved around peace, social
issues and women’s leadership roles.
One particular workshop was conducted by the chairman
of Hagar International, Ms Micaela Cronin of Australia.
The workshop was on Human Trafficking and an introduction of Hagar International’s missions
and visions. It was truly eye-opening as these issues were nowhere near my radar of knowledge.
I was taken aback after knowing that many of the issues that are happening all around the world
are way beyond our understanding. Each session and teaching proved beneficial for me
especially and I have never been more thankful to God for where He has placed me and where
He is leading me to.
21

Despite all the fun times, my participation did not last till the
end of the seminar. I had to cut short and leave after just 3
mere days. Reason for this was I had an accident on the third
day while on a site visit trip outside Ho Chi Minh City. An
emergency brake situation while I was sleeping in the bus
left me flying through the air and falling to the floor and
injuring my back. A trip to the hospital emergency room was
necessary and it was a pretty serious case which necessited
me to take the next immediate flight back home. Hence, I
could not make it to the end of the seminar.
Bus trip-site visiting
Columbia Hospital, Ho Chi Minh Vietnam
But, three days was more than enough for me to see and experience God’s amazing grace. He
led me on a journey to educate myself, to understand the happenings in the world, to always
put my trust in Him and to never fail to seek Him. Although it was difficult to comprehend at that
time why this had to happen to me alone, I have slowly began to see that His plan for me is still
waiting and this was a measure of stalling me from doing something I would have probably
regretted in years to come.
I am ever so thankful to God for giving me this experience and teaching some valuable life lessons
and not to mention for keeping me safe till today. I am on the road to recovery but I am grateful
every day that God held me and protected me from so much more worse circumstances that
could have taken place. All glory to God!
Thank you.
Deliverance and Revival Meetings at Kulim Outreach (TMC Sungai Petani)
- 16th to 18th June 2017 -
The 3 days power-packed deliverance and revival meetings were organized by TMC Sg. Petani at
their Kulim outreach from 16th to 18th June 2017. The team from KL, Prayer House for all Nations
led by Sis. Daisey Korinthiar, Bro. Gideon, Sis. Angie, Sis. Julian and Ps. Doni Indra from Jakarta,
Indonesia was invited to minister. The people came expecting and experienced a great move of
the Spirit of God.
Following briefly describes what took place during these 3 days;
16th Friday:
Chain prayer and praise from 2pm to 7.20pm. The SP team joined the Kulim team
at 5pm. Total 24 people (9 from SP).
Service 7.30 pm – 10.30 pm at Kulim Wesley
About 40 attended (6 children). 2 accepted and 2 rededicated their lives to the
Lord. Some received deliverances.
All Night Prayer: 11.50 pm to 6.30 am at Kulim Wesley
15 people including children attended. 9 of them received anointing and
blessings.
17th Saturday: Chain prayer and praise from 6pm to 7.30pm (8 from SP).
Service 7.30 pm – 11.30 pm at Kulim
About 35 people attended. 15 people including children accepted the Lord (3
from the same family). Many received deliverances and healing.
18th Sunday:
Sunday Service at Kuala Kangsar
Chain prayer and praise from 2pm to 3.30pm (4 attended)
Service 7.30 pm – 11 pm at Kulim Wesley.
About 30 attended (5 children). 4 accepted the Lord. Many received
deliverances.
As expected, there were many spiritual attacks and hindrances as we were preparing for the
meetings. However, God gave us victories to overcome all the hindrances and obstacles.
Overall the meetings were a great blessing to all those who participated. Hallelujah! Despite, all
the short comings God was merciful and gave many deliverances. As informed by the
coordinator, Bro. Nyanam, 95% of all that was envisioned was fulfilled by our Good Lord during
the 3 days meetings.
We want to thank the Lord for the Prayer House for all Nations team. We are also grateful for all
the sponsors. A special thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Selvaraj (cooked and sponsored the dinner for the
first day), Bro. Tina’s family (sponsored food for the second day), Bro. Nyanam’s brother’s son,
Mr. Nixon Anthonysamy (sponsored accommodation for the KL Team at Kota Kenari Home stay
with 3 rooms for 3 nights) and Mrs. Janet Jacob (sponsored cake and souvenirs for the fathers’
and food for the third day).
The Almighty God did something special in Kulim. We also had demonstrations of deliverances.
God has now definitely raised a team to assist Bro. Nyanam and Sis. Elizabeth John. Indeed, what
an awesome God we serve. Some new believers have committed to attend the service regularly.
24

We also had a great harvest of souls. Praise the Almighty God! We have dedicated a place,
‘Mizpah Hall’ for prayer and ministry at No. 2539, Lorong 2/1, Taman Selasih, Kulim. In the future,
this will also be a place for bible study and music practice. God is expanding the ministries in
Kulim outreach. In unity we can change the world for the glory of our King of Kings and Lord of
The TAC Southern District Methodist Youth Fellowship came up with an idea of having their
biennial youth camp for a duration of 5 days which was named School of Discipleship 2017 (SOD)
. The attendance recorded was 86 youths. The camp was held from 23rd to 27th of June 2017 at
N.U.B.E. Training Centre, Port Dickson.
The camp was also supported
with the presence of a couple
who were the MYF
counsellors from TMC Johor
Bahru. The 5 days concept
was inspired by the Southern
District Associate Youth
Director, Rev Silvester David,
who is also the senior pastor
of TMC Johor Bahru. The aim
of having a camp of 5 days is
to have a relaxed camp for
the youths. The theme of the
camp was “Imitators of
Christ” which was inspired
from 1 John 2:16, which says “whoever says he abides in him (Jesus) ought to walk in the same
way in which he (Jesus) walked”. The SOD was planned in such way that the youths were divided
into 5 groups led by a facilitator in each group. The facilitators were Ps. Joel Zechariah, Ps. David
Retnam, Ps. Mohan Raj, Ps. Ezekiel Raj who are all STM students, and Rev Samuel Manokaran
who is the pastor of TMC Jerantut and also the Eastern District AYD. The facilitators were
directed by Rev John Simson, who is the pastor of TMC Sitiawan and the founder of Youth
Transformation Centre, Pangkor. The lecturers for teaching sessions were Rev Dennis Raj, Rev
Joseph Yesupatham, Rev James Ravindaren, Mr. Guna David, Mrs. Jessie Silvester and Rev
Herbert John. The inspirational speakers were Rev Silvester David, Rev John Simson and Rev
Herbert John.
The youths were deeply ministered and identified their calling for ministry. The camp received
good feedbacks from the youths as there were life-transforming experiences that took place. We
would like to thank everyone who prayed for the camp which turned the SOD to be a successful
event. Above all, God was at work throughout the camp and blessed the camp. All glory and
honor to the Almighty alone!
TAC Methodist Women 42 nd Session
of the TAC Methodist Women’s Conference
The Methodist Women are having our annual gathering for our MW Conference this year from
26 – 28 TH AUGUST, 2017 AT EMPEROR HOTEL, MALACCA.
We have planned an exciting programme for our ladies this year. After many years, we are
venturing out again. This time to Historical Malacca, hosted by our Southern District MW ladies
headed by our dynamic District Superintendent, Rev. Joseph Yesupatham and District MW
President, Mrs. Esther Amirtham. .
We ladies are not only gathering for business, where we review our past year’s work and look
ahead to the following year’s challenges, but we also gather for fellowship amongst sisters from
various churches across the nation and listen to the various work that is being carried out by
them. We are also looking forward to the Spiritual talks which this year will be handled by our
very own TAC President, Rev. Dennis Raj.
We will have two Workshops for our ladies. Financial Management based on Biblical principles
by Mr. Pandian of TMC Ulu Klang, and Stress and Depression by Dr. Daisy Rabindran of TMC
Klang. These topics should prove very useful to our ladies.
There will be the annual Bible quiz based on the Book of Exodus (Chps 1 – 20). Many of our ladies
have been studying very hard for this quiz. Plus this year, our Talentime is also based on the book
of Exodus to help our ladies grow into a deeper understanding of the book. Our ladies can be
very creative so everyone is looking forward to this!!
As a Conference, as mothers, wives, and caring, compassionate women we would also like to
reach out to the needy during this time of our gathering. We would be donating RM 1,000 to a
well deserving cause in the Southern District. For we believe that our Conference should not only
be about ourselves but also about reaching out to the community with His love.
Last but not least, there will be a mini-exhibition on the history of MW, plus activities of the
Southern District MW and book sales …….. ….with some free time to tour Historical Malacca!
So all in all, the Conference should be a jam-packed time of prayer, spiritual food, business,
fellowship, testimonies, study and fun!! So we are urging all ladies to attend (with your husbands
and children if you want to). Registration forms are available with all your local MW presidents
and local pastors.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the fraternity of the women of the TAC – doing great
things for the Lord! Please keep the MW Conference in your prayers.
