Lenalidomide is used in adults in combinaon with other medicines to treat mulple myeloma (a type of cancer

Lenalidomide is an immunomodulatory and an anangiogenic agent. It works by stopping the growth of cancer 

cells in the body. 



Mode of acon 

Lenalidomide has been used to successfully treat both inflammatory disorders and cancers in the past 15 years. 

There are mulple mechanisms of acon, and they can be simplified by organizing them as mechanisms of acon 

in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, cheap lenalidomide has three main acvies: direct an-tumor effect, inhibion of

tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), and interleukin (IL)-6 (C); and smulaon of the T-helper cells, which increases 

producon of IL-2 and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and consequently augments natural killer (NK) cell acvaon and NK

Treatment of mulple myeloma. 



Mulple myeloma is a cancer of the blood, characterized by accumulaon of a plasma cell clone in the bone 

marrow. Lenalidomide is one of the novel drug agents used to treat mulple myeloma. It is a small molecular 

analog of thalidomide that was originally found based on its ability to effecvely inhibit tumor necrosis factor 

producon. Lenalidomide is 50,000 mes more potent than thalidomide in inhibing tumor necrosis factor-alpha, 

and has less severe adverse drug reacons. In a phase III clinical study, Weber et al. found that lenalidomide plus 

dexamethasone in paents with relapsed or refractory mulple myeloma was superior to the old treatment of 

mulple myeloma consisng of high-dose dexamethasone alone. 

Dosage of Lenalid
