Hello from the Carnival Committee! Our first meeting of the year was held in February. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we start the year with no Carnival Secretary. This is obviously a key role, and whilst we have offers of people willing to help out with some of the work (which we are very grateful for), we do need a named person to be the point of contact for the carnival and to ensure all the jobs get done. If you feel you can take on this role, please, please come forward, as we cannot continue to provide a carnival week without this person in place, but would have to consider reverting to a carnival procession only next year. The Carnival week will go ahead this year as bookings for the week had already been made. Unfortunately, due to the lack of a secretary and the amount of work involved, it may not be possible for us to produce a carnival programme this year. New for this year will be a Decorated Window competition instead of the Scarecrows. This will be open to both residential and business windows, so get thinking caps on - let's see what you can come up with! The only rule we have thought of so far is that the window must be clearly in view of the pavement for judging, but this is totally new, so watch this space. Don't forget your entries for the carnival itself - our Scrapstore card will be renewed shortly, and is a valuable source of "stuff" which can be used for carnival entries and costumes. The card is available to borrow from the flower shop. DELABOLE CARNIVAL 2018 BIG BREAKFAST We also are now looking for our 2018 Carnival Royalty - the application form is below. We will be delighted to receive applications for Fairy Queen from girls who will be aged between 4 and 11 years on Carnival Day, 21st July 2018, and for Senior Queen from young ladies who will be aged 12 years or more on Carnival Day. All applicants must have permission from a parent and must live in the PL33 postcode area, or attend Delabole CP School. We will provide you with a trailer for you to decorate for a float, and a sum of money to help towards your dresses etc. SATURDAY 14th APRIL 8 am - 12 noon DELABOLE METHODIST CHURCH SCHOOLROOM TAKE AWAY AVAILABLE TOO All our past queens have had great fun during their royal year, and it is an honour to represent the village of Delabole at any other local carnivals you are able to attend, as well as being in the limelight in our own carnival procession.
