And Finally DCPC Training!
The introduction of the Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence
had high aims. Reducing accidents, raising the professional
profile of those working in the transport industry, and enhancing
the image of the industry. These were common objectives.
Sometimes new legislation does not always produce the intended
results and allowing drivers to repeatedly take the same modules,
purely to meet the legal requirements, may seriously damage
the credibility of the scheme.
Post Brexit, the DCPC is likely to remain, in order to allow British
drivers to use EC roads and vice versa. We must make the best of
it as an investment in ourselves and our industry.
Having trained with the Road Transport Institute Training Board
to deliver DCPC Modules, I am keen on working with operators
and drivers to engage in providing DCPC training that is relevant
to their needs and enhances their work.
