File the test results with your periodic inspection records or<br />

vehicle documents. For Operator Licence Requirements these<br />

should be kept for a minimum of 15 months.<br />

Please ask if you require two copies (e.g. selling vehicle), no<br />

extra charge.


Wheel Security?<br />

Many have no problems for years, then for no apparent reason<br />

the issue arises.<br />

To safeguard your operators licence you need a wheel fitting and<br />

checking policy, including torque requirements!<br />

This, together with records of wheel movements and evidence of<br />

training will be beneficial if there are wheel security issues.<br />

Specific Certified Training will be available in the near future.<br />

Daily Walk Around Checks.<br />

The first step towards maintenance compliance.<br />

At six week inspection intervals it could be 41 hard days and<br />

sleeps before the vehicle is back for a routine check! Operators<br />

need to be certain daily checks are done right. Working with<br />

multi award winning Checked Safe we are in the process of creating<br />

a training and certification process to support this obligation.


And Finally DCPC Training!<br />

The introduction of the Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence<br />

had high aims. Reducing accidents, raising the professional<br />

profile of those working in the transport industry, and enhancing<br />

the image of the industry. These were common objectives.<br />

Sometimes new legislation does not always produce the intended<br />

results and allowing drivers to repeatedly take the same modules,<br />

purely to meet the legal requirements, may seriously damage<br />

the credibility of the scheme.<br />

Post Brexit, the DCPC is likely to remain, in order to allow British<br />

drivers to use EC roads and vice versa. We must make the best of<br />

it as an investment in ourselves and our industry.<br />

Having trained with the Road Transport Institute Training Board<br />

to deliver DCPC Modules, I am keen on working with operators<br />

and drivers to engage in providing DCPC training that is relevant<br />

to their needs and enhances their work.<br />
