When I agreed to become One Acadiana’s 2017 Board Chair I remember thinking this is going to be a pivotal year.
We advocated for the community to invest in critical assets like our education systems and transportation and drainage
infrastructure. As an organization, we invested time, energy, and resources to these efforts because they are lynch-pins for
economic development.
We also continued making significant strides in laying the groundwork to make Acadiana an attractive place for businesses
to open and relocate – creating an impactful brand for marketing our region; building relationships with site selectors who help
companies make decisions to relocate every day; and racking up an 89% increase in development-ready acreage in the region.

With a strong focus on existing businesses in the region, we met one-on-one with nearly 200 businesses to discuss opportunities
for expansion, as well as barriers to growth One Acadiana could help them overcome. We launched a Nepris platform to work
directly with employers to address a key challenge they face in increasing awareness about high-wage, high-demand jobs within
growing industries. We also hosted events and engagement opportunities which provided more than 3,500 attendees with
connections to other business leaders and lessons to take their businesses – and our community – to the next level.
I’m proud of our perseverance and resilience this year, what we’ve accomplished as a region, and what we are positioned
to achieve in 2018 and into the future.

This year marks a new beginning for our organization, with the arrival of One Acadiana’s new President & CEO Troy Wayman.
Each of us realizes the challenges we faced as a region in 2017, but we remain “Focused on Forward” in 2018 and beyond. One of
my major priorities as One Acadiana Board Chair is to solidify the regional focus of our area, assuring all nine parishes we serve
that individual successes at the parish level are an important part of our entire region’s success.
We are fortunate to live in a great region with many economic and quality of life assets, which we are excited to begin sharing
with businesses and talent across the country using the “South Louisiana” branding created in 2017.
We remain dedicated to fostering economic growth in Acadiana, both by supporting the development of companies already
invested here, as well as recruiting new business and jobs. This work is only made possible alongside our economic development
partners across our nine-parish region.
By working together, we will continue generating results against the core strategies of The Campaign for One Acadiana.
I encourage each of you to challenge yourself to find new ways to give back to the community and contribute to One Acadiana’s
success this year – let us know how you want to plug in; we are ready and willing to help.
