QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
What do we do with palms from last year’s celebration?
Many people are dropping off discreetly Palms in the Church;
others have come to the office to “return” them. These palms
are to be kept and not thrown out. Like any object that has
been blessed, like a Rosary, the scapular, a religious medal
etc, it is not to be thrown out because it has been blessed. To
throw out a blessed object is to profane it.
I have an abundance of palms from previous years, and I
don’t know what to do with them. Help.
If you want to be relieved of an abundance of palms from
previous years, you can burn them. If you have use of a small
fire pit, you may throw the palms into the fire.
First Communion
There will no classes on March 10 th and March 17 th for
March Break and classes will resume on March 24 th .
Confirmation
Sponsors are invited to attend the last Confirmation class on
April 8 th or 9 th with the Confirmandi. If you have not handed
in your Letter of Intent or Sponsor’s paperwork, it is now
overdue. Please drop off any outstanding paperwork. a.s.a.p.
VESPERS & PUBLIC LECTURE
My grandmother died and left us with a lot of religious
medal, crucifixes, pictures etc. I don’t have any use from
them. What do I do?
You may wish to give those religious articles away to people
who will appreciate them. Or you may wish to drop them off
at the parish office, we have someone who collects them and
sends them off to various Third World countries.
What about the Missals we use in Church? How do I get
rid of them?
These Missals refer to those pocket sized books which has all
the readings of the Mass for the entire year. When we sell
new Missals, we do not bless them because they have a
limited shelf life (one year). Because they are not blessed,
you can throw out your old Missals. Or you may wish to drop
them off at the parish office, we have someone who collects
them and sends them off to various Third World countries.
Talking about blessing, is it necessary to get my new car
or home blessed?
It is a good and laudatory thing to have your cars and homes
blessed. In blessing a car or a home, we are asking God and
the saints that they be used for the glory and furtherance of
God’s kingdom. Even one of our nearby grocery stores
which opened up in the Fall, had one of our priests bless the
store before it was opened to the public. To have your car
blessed, we priests usually accommodate on the day that the
person drives the car to the parish. To have your house
blessed, you’ll have to call the parish so that the priest and
you can find a convenient time to have it blessed.
Is there a fee in having my car or house blessed?
There is no fee. If you give a donation to the priest, he may
offer it back to you as a token of his generosity.
I bought a used car and I think my friend had it blessed.
Is that blessing enough or should I seek a blessing from
the priest?
You should seek to have the priest to bless your car.

Living the Gospel by

youth
On any given night, 6,000 people across Canada between 16 and
24 have nowhere to call home. This represents 20 per cent of the
total homeless population. The ShareLife-supported Rights of
Passage program at Covenant House has been active in making a
positive difference in the lives of homeless youth on the streets of
Toronto. The program matches adolescents with mentors, who
help them build life skills. By supporting ShareLife, you’re
helping at-risk youth prepare for life on their own.
March 18 is our first ShareLife Sunday. Please give
generously. Our goal this year is $57,000.
